Les Brown, who starred at BYU Pro Day, signs with Dolphins

These are the kind of signings why i dont bury Ireland all the time. He reaches out and gets these type of kids (Wake, Messam, and now Les Brown). I cant wait to see Brown and Messam in camp hopefully they will produce and make the roster.
Yea Ireland isnt a complete douche. Some ppl act like he hasn't done anything at all for this franchise. He's pretty good at finding hidden gems. Cant wait til camp starts! B.I.M.

Wouldnt call the players he signed hiden gems. And hell like everyone said before this year it was Parcells show. Just saying Cameron wAKE this guy were not hidden gems if alot of teams were looking at them. Now the cb we drafted last year I might call a hidden gem

i really like the underdog and can see this kid wants it.i hope he sticks i would not want him on the PS he would be gone in a heartbeat

Never said one negative about the signing just gave a very realistic view. If teams were so convinced that this guy was such a freak and will be a good football player Im sure there would be a small scale bidding war. Hell until we heard we signed him nobody knew who this guy was. I agree you cant coach speed and athleticsim but the failed road of nfl prsopects is littered with guys who have speed and athleticism but are not good football players. I mean how many on this board have looked at the Jets signing of the rugby player as a genius move.

I know you dont believe these things but

Every former basketball player is not going to be Antonio Gates
Every overaged qb is not going to be Roger Staubach(who at least Dallas had the common sense not to draft him high) In todays NFL he would not have been drafted most likely since he was a 10th round pick)
Every small school qb is not Joe Flacco
Every CFL player is not Cam Wake.
Every arena player is not Orande Gadsen.

Yeah maybe Les Brown will be camp fodder but there is always a chance a signing like this could pay off big time. Have faith my friend!!

I like that he gets out of his breaks fast, whips his head quick, and he catches ball at its highest point. no doubt in my mind that he took performance enhancing drugs though. Im sorry but, you dont gain 25 pounds of muscle in 8 weeks. Its physically impossible but, with that said, I would do the same thing if i wanted to go to the pros and had that kind of hight and speed.

I did 20 pounds in 10 weeks about 8 years ago training 5 times a week. I was 19 in college and went from 148 to 168 and it was all muscle. I had a friend going with me all the time and he only gained about 12. Different people have different genes and body types and we didn't have a professional trainer either. In other words NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

You're right, to many, Cam was anything but a hidden gem, especially to some of our Canuck members like RevKev who saw him up close and personal. However if I recall, t(and U know I do!), to you for the longest time, you insisted he was more along the line of fool's gold.

I apologize in advance for calling you out but you have made a ridiculous claim. You did not gain 20lbs of muscle while your buddy gained "only" 12 unless you were running gear or at least prohormones. If you gained 20lbs like you said, maybe 8 was muscle the rest was likely water retention and fat. And 8lbs of muscle is a very good result for a 19 year old whose natural test levels are through the roof. My assumption is being only 148 lbs to start you had a low bodyfat percentage so you didn't notice the change in bodyfat.

I completely agree that different people have different genetics and build muscle at faster rates, however, I have never heard a case of a person maintaining their body fat % yet adding 20 lbs of muscle in 10 weeks. (without the use of anabolics)

Well look at the difference. You were 148 to 168. No muscle to some muscle. You're growth should be fast. He went from 215 to 240. Gaining 38 pounds of muscle while already muscular.

Im pretty sure though most people that watch CFL probably have a higher opinion of most these players. I admit I did not see Wake coming in and playing this well but I have watched quite a bit of canadadian players look great inm canada only to be camp fodder in us. There is a huge talent disparity from here to north of the border and hey I was wrong on Wake, but just because I was doesnt mean everyone that we sign will be that next guy. Im all for these type of signings to turnover every leaf but im realistic enough to realize that Wake type results are an anomoly.

Les gained 23 pounds not 38.

Sun-Sentinel: Miami Dolphins reportedly sign former basketball player

I didn't see this posted. Interesting...

http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2012/04/miami-dolphins-reportedly-sign-former-basketball-player.html

Miami Dolphins have reportedly signed a former college basketball player with the intentions of turning him into a tight end.According to Sports Illustrated draft guru Tony Pauline, the Dolphins have signed Les Brown to a future’s contract. The Dolphins have not confirmed the signing.Brown never played college basketball, but he did play hoops at NAIA Westminster College in Utah.Brown, who is 6-foot-4, reportedly impressed NFL scouts at BYU’s Pro Day two weeks ago.Brown, who weighs 238 pounds, played small forward for Westminster. With a sprained ankle, Brown reportedly ran a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash, measured a 39-inch vertical jump and posted a 10-3 broad jump. All those measureables are extremely good, no matter the position.

Here's video of his Pro Day workout, for what it's worth:
