Let me get this straight Mr. Saban.......

What a foolish thread. Coach Saban knew that he was going to get called to duty and put him on the active roster as a matter of procedure then the reserve list, so when he comes back he is a propoerty of this team. It allowed us to get a propsect for the future at a position of no depth for basically nothing.

Oh ya..........Eckel was SUCH a prospect lemme tell ya........we need depth now, not next year.

Eckel doesnt count toward our 53 man roster. If Miami was to cut him right now, they dont gain another roster spot. He's on reserver/military leave, meaning we gain a roster exception. StClair was cut for this Berger kid. Eckel signing and St.Clair's release have nothing to do with each other.

Ya? Then what about next year? Wont we need depth then to? What is the harm in having a prospect who wont count against the roster now who can have great benefit to us in the future?

Your logic in this instance is severely lacking. The signing of Eckel is a BONUS. It is not a hindrance in any way to any depth we might seek to acquire this year.

Once again, let's start Saban bashing!! I guess we miss Wannstedt more than we know!! :baghead: :baghead: :baghead: :baghead: :baghead:

I never said they had anything to do with each other........... I'm commenting on how the moves make no sense.

St. Clair did decent, but our olinemen showed they were more talented.

That was about as intelligent as any other post on this messageboard.
Why are you here anyway? I'm down with other teams coming on and talking some football, especially if thats who Miami's playing that week, but who are on here just to run off at the mouth. I hope you are back on here....lets say 4:30 Sunday afternoon after your first lose.

It's a bonus because we still have a roster exemption, but come next year we don't ..........not to mention Eckel has to serve two years from what I read. I'm still not getting it. Seems like a waste of a signing to me.

How does it not make sense? It doesnt count toward the roster! Its basically like having a free guy on the side for the future!?! I fail to follow your logic here man.
