Let's name guys we think got overpaid this week:

Lions

Sent from my Nexus 7 FHD

That was Golden Tate.

on topic, overpaid IMO: Branden Albert, Aqib Talib, Jairus Byrd, Michael Johnson, Vontae Davis, Zane Beadles, Austin Howard, DeMarcus Ware, Donte Whitner, Dan Carpenter, Everson Griffen

good deals: Eugene Monroe, Alterraun Verner, Randy Starks, Brent Grimes, Geoff Schwartz, Clinton McDonald, Toby Gerhart

With Revis in New England, I feel like we do need to get a guy like James Jones. The Pats can double Wallace and let Revis just obliterate our #2 receiver if it's Hartline. Brandon Gibson would become extremely important, but he should be alright cuz it wasn't an ACL injury, but something that shouldn't affect explosiveness this season.

To me the "overpaid" thing is silly. That is what fans of rival teams say when their opponent signs a good player. "Sure they signed that Pro Bowl player but they OVERPAID". Like this somehow diminishes the fact that great talent was just added. Overpaid is irrelevant if the team wins. Do you think New England will care when they win the division again? Or Denver when they win the SB? All teams have the same salary cap limit. If they can work the pieces and win, who cares what they pay? Winning is winning.

Its a passing game guys.. we got lucky we signed Grimes before the market was set... These days its pass, pass, pass. You need good corners. Talib and Vontae are good corners. You want your guy you pay him. Simple as that.

In a league where dollars = players, every time you overpay you are losing out on someone else that you can't sign or keep. It matters, especially down the line if you're on the hook for salary that is not producing, like, say Wheeler. But sometimes even if they are productive players their contracts can hurt you bad. Detroit is overpaying big for Stafford, Calvin and Suh and that is already a huge problem for them. Not even cutting them would help.

That being said, sometimes it makes sense to overpay. Albert makes sense. What's the alternative? We simply had to have a a solid LT no matter what.

I'm with you 100%. If you want to play in free agency you're going to overpay.
