First things first... We need to resign this guy no matter what this offseason. He has been great all season long against the opponents top reciever and is a big reason why we went from one of the worse pass defensive teams to one of the better ones. Hes a big reason why we won last game... Although to the Naked eye , it may not seem that way.

Looking at the box score you probably think... Damn.. Antonio Brown torched Brent Grimes today.... 5 Catches for 132 yards 1 td? Brown definitely won that battle. Except his 1 TD (43 yards) came off a zone coverage where Grimes wasn't even in the area and 55 of those yards came on the lateral play... 43 yards + 55 Yards = 98. 132-98=34.

Grimes held Antonio Brown to only 34 yards receiving yesterday on 4 catches... But the stats surely wouldn't indicate that would they? Grimes had Brown in check for the majority of the game. Brown is one of the best recievers in the league and has lead the league in receptions for the majority of the season. Grimes only allowed him to catch 4 (could be lower) for 34 yards.

If it hadnt been for that blown zone coverage and bad tackle attempts/angles that Jones and our LB took, Brown would have had a pretty bad game.

Grimes has been our defensive MVP this season and is crucial to this teams future if we want to make any type of deep playoff run. People want to continually bash Ireland for some of his bad moves, but he took a chance on Grimes and he is a big reason for our team's success. He also has a bunch of other good signings picks that are doing well for us right now but this thread isnt about him.

Edit: Via RoyalShank- Grimes also hasnt given up a single TD all season.

How much cap space do we have again next year? Who else do we need to resign?

Well Grimes holds all the cards. (unless we franchise him). He took the one year prove it deal and is proving it. His agent will wait and see all the offers that are going to come in, and they will come in. Hopefully since we were willing to take a chance on him and if we give him a comparable offer he will stay, but I don't know.

Solia/Starks/Grimes/Carroll/Clabo/Clemons/Incognito/Mckinnie/Jerry/Keller

But Patterson is owend 5.5 mil next season, i can see him being cut so we have the Money for Grimes. Patterson has been great in limited playing time, but Carrol has also improved as well. Id like Patterson back if he can restructure his deal, but the guy cant stay healthy.

Starks is probably gone and Clemons might be as well. Incognito also probably gone unless he takes a very cheap deal because nobody else will probably want him.

Free agents

Binns
Carroll
Clabo
Clemons
Soliai
Starks
Grimes
Jerry
Mckinnie
Yeatman
Devlin

I think those are most of them.

We are about $19 million under the cap to roll over and shoud have about $34 million in free cap space for 2014.

At least that is what I can find

I think he will re-sign. We will offer him a very fair deal, plus im sure some teams will be wary on spending the money on him. He is 30 years old and just 2 years removed off a major injury. We can probably get him back for 6-7 mil.

Been saying that from the start. He should have had a long term contract after the Colts game. No way he should be allowed to test the waters. Lock him up!

Fouts said Grimes hasn't allowed a TD yet this year. I didn't realize that. Surely he will be in the Pro Bowl, no? If we have to cut Patterson to keep Grimes and Carroll we should - and get one of our young picks into the action. Also, Clemons is expendable IMO. Gotta keep Soliai and McKinnie for one more year as I can't see having two new tackles again next year.

Love grimes, love his explosiveness.

But a underrated fact is, our entire secondary has been pretty damn good. Even Wilson and Carroll have really come along. Wilson in all honesty has been pretty greet.

Cap space isnt the big problem. Its the signing bonus. Garunteed money. How much does Mr. Ross to put on table up front.

no talk needed... sign him. adjust the language, related to age and possible injury; build in escalators and poison pills as need be, and keep him with us.

If I'm not mistaken we have many players that will become FA's next year, including our 3 top CB's in Grimes, Patterson, and Carroll. We are going to have to make some tough decisions.
