Lets talk about Brent Grimes.

Free agents

Binns
Carroll
Clabo
Clemons
Soliai
Starks
Grimes
Jerry
Mckinnie
Yeatman
Devlin

I think those are most of them.

We are about $19 million under the cap to roll over and shoud have about $34 million in free cap space for 2014.

At least that is what I can find

Bryant McKinnie signed a two year agreement this past off-season with the Ravens. "McKinnie tested free agency for a little over a month following the 2012 season, but the Ravens ultimately signed him on May 2, 2013 to a two-year deal valued at up to $7 million."

I think i remember reading that we voided his contract or something making him a FA at the end of the season.

Yes, they agreed to void the last year of his contract; I have no idea why the Fins agreed to do it.

Doubt they franchise him also...about $7-8 million a year, 3 yrs sounds about right.

Surprised to see Richie's name on that list. But i agree. Getting him for 3 years at 6-8 mil would be a great signing. Anything over 3 years though could be pushing it. 33-34 seems to be the age where Corners take a big drop off in talent. Which is why we need to develop our 2 young quarters and hope they pan out in a year or two.

Definitely Grimes has added a high degree of professionalism and has earned the teams and the fans respect with his continued pro-bowl type performance.

Grimes is a freekin' warrior.

He's the epitome of what we need on this team. Mad skills and total toughness.

We need more like him on both sides of the ball.

And what about that hit he put on that dude which broke up the reception? That his was NAAAAAAAAAASTY

Sign Grimes and drop Patterson makes the most sense. Not sure where to go from there, but that is the first step for the secondary.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I don't think there is any way that Grimes signs a deal for $6-$8 million. As of right now he is playing like a top 5 corner in the NFL. Someone will definitely be willing to pay more than that. He will probably sign a 3 year deal anywhere from $8-10 million per year with $14-18 million guaranteed. Even at 30 he is a rare talent in the NFL and people will pay for that. One thing is for sure is that he will be a Fin next year. They tagged Soliai for over $12 million/year when they had the cap space and I see Grimes in the same boat.

Carroll, Grimes, Starks or Soliai (pick one…so much DL/DE depth), McKinnie (he's been great), Binns and Devlin (cheap), and Jerry….That's who we resign. If Patterson can prove he's fully healed you don't cut him. If he's still injured he's gone.

Grimes is who Omar's wife refers to as "that little light-skinned" guy. LOL. Unbelievable how good this guy is, and Miko's twitter just cracks me up.

What goes through my mind is that part in Jerry McGuire, when Tom Cruise rubs his fingers together at the GM, after his client makes good on his 1 year deal, and says,.. you're gonna pay.

Seriously though, without Grimes we wouldn't even be talking about a wildcard spot.
