Hello Dolphins Fans.
I am a Cardinals Fan and was just curious how Rosen is being accepted in Dolphin Waters.
Here is my opinion on what I think of Rosen. And by the way, I wanted us to keep him.
Any rookie QB is like a Salmon trying to swim upstream in his first season. Well with Rosen, he was a Salmon trying to swim up Niagra Falls. And this is why I say this:
Coaching
First, our head coach was in his first year as a head coach. He had a defensive background and not an offensive background.
Second, our Offensive Coordinator was fired mid season. Yes, that is how bad he was.
Third, our OC replacement was our QB Coach. This was his first foray as an OC. Rookie QB, Rookie HC, Rookie OC? Did that have something to do with Rosens poor performance last season? I would say it played a part in his game.
Oline
When Rosen eventually took over for Bradford, I think our original starting Oline was still in tact. By seasons end though, our Oline consisted of mostly 2nd and 3rd stringers. Keep in mind, our first string Oline was not good to begin with.
The Oline allowed Rosen to get sacked 45 times. That does not include any QB Hurries or Pressures. And don't QB Hurries and Pressures usually outnumber sacks? Just Sayin.
The bottom line is that our Oline was injury plagued for most of the season.
Wide Receivers
Our primary receivers were Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. Keep in mind that Christian Kirk was a rookie last season. Our remaining WR's were just okay, nothing to brag about. Well, once Kirk got injured, that left us with Fitzgerald as our best WR. Hmm...do you think that our opponents could scheme against Fitzgerald by double or triple coverage? You are probably asking yourself, well what about the other WR's? I was just going to get to them.
Those other WR's were not able to create seperation. They also dropped quite a few passes that were in there hands. When a WR drops a ball that is right on the money, it does affect the QB stats. Forget about the stats. A dropped ball can mean not first down to keep the chains moving. This is stuff you will not see in highlight films.
Running Backs
Our RB David Johnson did not have a great season. So many times the OC that was fired kept sending him right up the middle of the defense. First of all, our Oline was not good enough to open holes up the middle. Many times, an up the middle run was called not once but twice in a row for no gain or for a loss. So, when you have to leave it up to Rosen to get 10 yards for a first, I would say that it created pressure for him as a Rookie.
If you don't have a run game, then you more than likely won't be able to execute play action successfully. Rosen had 393 pass attempts last season. Did you know that the top 15 QB's last season had more than 500 passing attempts? What does that tell you? Perhaps with more attempts or successful rushing attempts, Rosen would have gained more experience and become better last season.
Rosen
I have seen some comments on this board about his attitude. When we first drafted Rosen, the same thing happened on our message board. If you were to check our board, you will see that there are zero threads about his attitude. You will not have a problem with that.
He got beat up pretty bad last season. But yet, did not get injured. With a mediocre Oline, he should hold up well against injury.
Did he throw some bad passes? Yes he did. How many rookie QB's throw bad passes? But can he be accurate? Yes, very accurate.
I think he will be a top 10 QB if he has the support from his Oline, WR's, Run Game and Coaching.

That is my opinion on why Rosen had a bad Rookie season. Just thought I would give you guys food for thought.
Good luck next season Dolphin Fans.
By the way, my son has been a Dolphins Fan for many years. He was pretty excited to get Rosen. I wonder if he posts on here, I will have to ask him.
