Linehan makes me sick

Yes, I hope he plays just like he did last season for Linehan. 0 completions on 1 pass attempt.

So you hope the guy who is likely to be our starting QB is not successful. What kind of thinking is that? I think AJ deserves a chance, but either way I will be chearing for the guy who lines up under center. Like it or not, that guy is the team's QB.

As it stands now, Frerotte's rating is at 59.7, and Feeley's is at 74.6. That's a marked difference, and definitely an improvement for Feeley.

I will not entertain any garbage about first team / second team. It generally evens out. Unless a quarterback is playing with first teamers against second teamers, he will not look better. He is playing against a pass rush that is generally not crushing, and the pass coverage is less than stellar. However, his offensive linemen are not overpowering, and his wide receivers are not the best route runners, not the fastest guys, and certainly don't have the best hands. That might actually make it more difficult on the quarterback.

Frerotte is garbage, and I've been saying it all along. Perhaps the best one-line description of Frerotte is the first thing I thought of when he was signed - "He's like Jay Fiedler, only worse." Sure, he throws the deep ball. I don't care if he throws the ball 90 yards downfield, because he's inaccurate. *I* can get out there and heave the ball past wide-open receivers - that's not that difficult. Feeley's interception could partly be blamed on Newson not even making an attempt at the ball, while Frerotte's cannot.

Frerotte was handed the keys to the offense, and has done nothing with it. Feeley has been given the shaft from the start, and he's done more than his share to earn a chance to start. Especially since his 3-5 record last year with our comically incompetent team meant nothing - as well as beating the then two-time Super Bowl champs.

I'll say this again - if Frerotte is the starter, then there never was a competition. Saban and Linehan might as well become synonymous with cronyism, since Frerotte's abysmal performance warrants more than a "wink and a nudge" response from Linehan.

The fact is, Frerotte does NOT give us the best chance to win, and if he starts he will prove that. Linehan gets too much credit for what happened in Minnesota. When you've got an outstanding offensive line with Culpepper and Moss, it's got to be difficult to do poorly.
What a great forum. Everytime I start to type my thoughts down, someone comes along and does it perfectly for me!

A.J. did improve. How you can say he didn't is beyond me. He threw one interception in his last three games. Sacks are substantially better than interceptions, unless you'd rather have the quarterback heave it up for grabs. Besides, as I've already pointed out, Gus has been sacked four times to A.J.'s one so far, so I won't buy into that.

This whole timing issue is garbage. Why does Feeley have the timing if he's just not that good? You're taking your presupposed conclusion (that Frerotte is better) and manipulating the data to support it. If Frerotte continues to do this in the regular season, you'll come up with another reason why he needs to stay.

By the way, Gus's problem is that he's been a mediocre quarterback his entire career.

Sacks are better than interceptions, but so is taking the hike and falling into a fetal position. That doesn't mean he's improving as a QB.

AJ has timing b/c he worked with the same receivers last year.

Gus is a mediocre QB, nobody's claiming he's great, but AJ's problem is that he's never reached even that modest standard.

Yeah, I agree, Linehan makes me sick!!!
Real...Real....SICK

I can not handle seeing the ball fly down the field like that and the camera swining to keep up w/ it. It gives me motion sickness, or something!!! I guess I got so used to seeing the ball go 1 yard at a time, play in play out. I mena I like to know what is going on. I hate surprises. I like it when I can tell you w/ 90% accuracy what the play is.

Oh, if I can tell you then so can the other teams D cord and all the players on the D hunh. I guess I will have to live w/ the motion sickness!

HaHAhahahahaha!!!!!!

There's another way of looking at this. One could argue that Feeley is making a quicker read, and delivering nice, safe completions before the pass rush is a factor. Feeley has played well enough that he deserves a chance to prove himself playing with the first team offensive line and the first team WR. As it is now, why would he want to hang on to the ball and try to make a play downfield, when he's got guys like Taylor Whitley protecting him, and Maurice Mann and Danny Farmer trying to go deep? Hanging on to the ball could be a recipe for disaster in those circumstances.

And I don't really care about long incompletions. AJ has a stronger arm than Frerotte. I'm sure that AJ can overthrow his receivers as well as Frerotte.

There's something else, too. If people pay attention, you'll notice how often Feeley hits the receivers in stride. He even did this last season. Frerotte's completions have been a lot more Fiedler-esque, with the balls being too high, or behind the receiver, not giving them a chance to do something after the catch.
You are making a lot of sense, frerotte is not and never will be a decent QB, he was brought here because Linehan tought that with MagooGus he was able to implement his system, since Gus was already familiar with, but Gus can't deliver. At this point is difficult for our OC make the statement that he did make a mistake. What is going to happen? nothing at all, Frerotte is the starter.

Hey while we are throwing around a large pile of Bill dung, let's throw this out there.

Trade Gus,RW,Zgoniaor Roth, CC,Crowder and a 2nd and 3rd for Pep. I mean if it is all about Linehan wanting a guy that knows his system. Give them a fortune for a guy that has struggled at times too.

Pep had his growing pains fumbling and throwing more balls to the D than to his own endzone. Forget it!!! Relax!!!!!! If this situation does not get better in a couple of games make a move.

The trade thing was a joke!

I don't post here much, might even be my first time. My opinion is this though, we know what Feeley can do behind our porous O-line, don’t you think maybe we ought to give Gus 5-6 games before tossing him out? I mean come on we sat through the Fiedler “experiment†for how many gut-wrenching games?

Maybe it’s just time we face it we will struggle on offense no matter what till the O-Line is fixed.

By the way, you might want to start following Texas A&M’s Reggie McNeal because he looks to be the 2nd QB to be taken in the Draft and the Fins have a good chance of getting him. And no the second in the Draft wont be Vince Young unless he has learned to pass. Reggie has the legs to better handle a bad O-line and is said to be a McNabb type QB but with skills that are further along than NcNabb had in collage.

I'll be happy if Ricky breaks 1200 yards and the defense improves this year. I don't think Brown will be what most think he will be so I look at is as a bonus if he does land up looking llike a high 1st rounder. I'm Not worried about win losses because why kid yourself?
