Link to ireland stating he will help choose starters!!

I Think What Ireland Meant To Say Was He And Joe Were Going To Collectively Pick The Players Not The Starters.. He May Have Just Said It The Wrong Way...

Ireland is nothing more then a ball boy who is masquerading as a GM. His head is so fricken big it's a wonder he can fit through the doors at Dolphins Headquarters. He has no business whatsoever sticking his nose into who is going to be a starter or not. If he does this then it undermines the Head Coach and are team will be doomed. Keep your nose out of it you glorified ball boy!!!!

Well technically, since Ireland brings in all the players and gets them to sign rthe deal, he chooses the starters in a way.

I think too big of a deal is being made about what Ireland said. Philbin will run the team.

How the hell can I hate Ireland, I don't even know him. I've ALWAYS supported him here. Just passing the news.

Yet you know exactly what he was thinking and what he meant by a radio interview and you have created 2 separate posts about it. Mountain / mole hill.

Yeah not directed to anybody in particular but to me this is a mountain out of a mole hill. More of a head shake towards BigO who I think is making a bit much of it.

I think pretty much everybody involved from GM, to coach to assistants all work together to put the roster together. And really, the best way to build a great organization is to have an entire unit working collectively. Ireland can't force Philbin to play anybody.

Kind of scary to me, this would be news to anyone.

Well for a guy who says he's just passing the news, it seems like its pretty important for you that we all see that news YOUR way...

I was ORIGINALLY passing the news until I was accused of making it up, so when I start getting ripped I'm obviously going to reply. How are you seeing it my way, listen to the quote, he was asked a direct question in which he answered. He said it not me. I was not quoting him in writing without source, he answered the question "who will determine who starts"

That is called job security my friend. Look, all my draftees are starters. I must have done a good job! (as Ross pats his back) atta boy!
Yeah that is exactly why he is doing this but it is all excess because Ross hasn't fired him yet I really do not think he has to resort to this to keep his job. Just keep picking up middle of the road starters or rookies with untapped potential and seemingly that will be enough for this owner.

Don't claim to know what he was thinking and neither should you. Just posting a link to what he said, anyone can interpret it the way they want which is certainly their prerogative. But when he is asked directly "will that be coach Philbin's final decision or will it be your's" and he answers "it's going to be a collective decision" Kinda leads you to believe he's going to be directly involved in those decisions. The correct answer, if his intent were any different, would have been, "That's coach Philbin's decision to make, I'm going to acquire the talent and give him all the tools he needs to succeed" That's what 31 other GM's would have said.

And as soon as you are GM of the Fins or any other NFL team, then we know that question will be answered correctly. But until then we will only have to wonder. Mountain / mole hill.
