from LSU. Posted on LSU board. I called that one earlier. I wouldn't be surprised if Saban gives Marcus Randall tryout at safety

Any info on this guy?

That doesn't really surprise me. Don't see him making the roster, but I think he's better than Givans. Any news on Wilkerson and the QB?

6'2", 252 lbs, roughly 4.8-4.9 in the forty.

Lionel Turner
LSU
6'2"
258 pounds
40 time: 4.92

BIO: Three-year starter and first team All-Conference selection as a senior after posting 82/4.5/2. Junior totals included 78/5/3 when he was honorable mention All-SEC.

POSITIVES: Forceful, run-stuffing linebacker who struggles in pass coverage. Diagnoses the action and quickly locates the ball. Disciplined defender who stays with assignments. Defeats blocks on his way to the play, stacks well against the run and wraps up tackling. Forceful up the field on the blitz and quick filling gaps to stop ballcarriers. Mentally alert and works hard.

NEGATIVES: Lacks speed to the flanks, struggles moving laterally and slow redirecting to ballcarriers.

ANALYSIS: A straight-line player best going downhill, Turner is a two-down defender. Offers both size and strength as well as football intangibles, which could help him catch on as a backup.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent

Yes he will need to get faster. Dropping some weight might help. Played better as a junior than a senior and appeared faster as a junior. Again I think he might have gotten a little fat and happy after the National Championship. Worth giving a shot to see if he can get faster with year round training. Good football player.

I don't think he'd make the team because the comp. will be still at LB but if he looks to be a 3-4 type LB.

I wouldn't rule out Lionel making the team as a reserve to Zach Thomas. It's obvious that Nick Saban wants to get bigger on defense, and he may keep Lionel around over one of the smaller guys.

surely Marcus is a better passer in Nick's eyes than some of the old Nebraska QBs who made the switch?

I think Saban might want to keep at least one linebacker around who can run, so Eddie Moore might be safe for now. Turner would probably battle it out with Derrick Pope for a job, and sad to say I think he might win. Pope is small and slow, Turner big and slow.

We normally kept 7 linebackers and 9 DL. On the DL we've still got Carter, Chester, Bowens, Taylor, Holliday, Zgonina, David Bowens, Roth, Romero, Vickerson, Josh Shaw, Mario Monds, and Ronald Flemons. At LB we have now Zach, Seau, Spragan, Crowder, Moore, Pope, Ayanbadejo, Jenkins, Strother, and Renauld Williams.

I wonder if we'll break it down the same way? I suppose Vickerson could battle Romero for a roster spot. It wouldn't look out of place for Ayanbadejo to battle Jenkins for a roster spot. Those would be the 9th and 7th spots at their respective positions...

I say the DL works out to have 2 NTs in Chester and Bowens, Carter and Holliday and Vickerson the 3-4 DEs/4-3 one-gappers, Taylor and D. Bowens and Roth the pass rushing specialists. Possibly another could be added, maybe at DT/DE. Zgonina could work. Offcourse Monds could also be considered to be the backup NT.

Derrick Wake could possibly be brought in from LB University....he's 6'2 240 and has got some speed
