Lol pathetic childish political in fighting is crippling this organization

This is not your father's Miami Dolphins kids.

Guys like me who have been fans since childhood 70's, are downright embarrassed by this team more often than not.

John Clayton articulates so well why forced marriages do not work and how the direction of team is going can leave a leadership void.

.

Yeah well hardly anything works. Building a superbowl team is VERY difficult, you should understand that as a Miami Dolphins fan. We've been trying every type of marriage under the sun for 40 or so years including 15 years or so of a hall of fame coach/hall of fame QB combo and NONE of it worked.

There is no blueprint on where good coaches come from. There is no blueprint on where good GMs come from. And there is no blueprint on building superbowl contenders. All we can do is keep worrying or hope we've caught lighting in a bottle. And no matter what you think the best way to build a team is, building a super bowl contender will still come down to catching lightning in a bottle.

The point is that this type of **** just doesn't bode well for the team going forward. I don't know what kind of GM or OC is going to want to join this high school drama disaster, and Philbin is essentially a lame duck on a short leash. Totally pointless. Should've just cleaned house.

crippling the organization?! lol

whats pathetic is news outlets trying to make this out to be more than it is.

Infighting goes on everywhere.

Personally, I think "childish" & "pathetic" better describes Deadspin, IMO.

I am so proud of this owner, Aponte and Philbin. They are Awesome!

I'm starting to think Philbin didnt want Sherman gone because he was already frustrated with the line ireland gave them and then punished Sherman for not being able to work with it.

1. This happens in every corporation in America that employs more than like four people. And even in some that employ four or fewer people. Not saying that's a good thing -- in fact, that's a big reason why American business is so screwed up -- but it's just reality.

2. Considering the fact that no one on earth likes Jeff Ireland and that Tony Sparano and Bill Parcells won't even speak to the man anymore, do you think that maybe, just maybe, he was the biggest part of the problem?

I don't know about embarrassed but I'm constantly bewildered how it evolved this way. In that early '70s era, the Dolphins had the aura and reputation as the smartest team in the league, and with the greatest home field advantage. Very fan friendly. There were promotions for cheap tickets, and the big wigs were always straight forward with the media, detailing the priorities and concerns of the franchise. Even Joe Robbie's persistent bickering with the City of Miami commission regarding the Orange Bowl was more amusing than anything else.

Until it turned into a detour to a disastrous new stadium. I'll always believe that was the turning point, the stain.

The trade off was the opposite fortunes of the Canes. Forty years ago there was no prospect of anything beyond an occasional minor bowl. I attended every home game during the '70s and never saw one bowl team. Not until I went away to USC did the program begin to thrive. It's surreal that it turned into 5 championships and 4 or 5 missed opportunities, to the point Canes fans are now disgusted with Al Golden because he lost 4 games this year. Those expectations are every bit as misplaced as the posters here who expect 2 or 3 more wins simply via an improved offensive line and new coordinator.

I'll continue to assert that a new stadium(s) is the cleanser. Until that point, both teams smell and drift.

Seems to me like where there's smoke there's fire... Especially on this one

Sherman sucked in Greenbay and he sucked here And he got fired in both places end of story.

you know, there is bickering and posturing in ALL team offices. nature of the corporate beast.

but, i think a lot of whats being said now is getting blown WAY out of proportion and the root of it is coming from sources who want to poison the dolphin waters.

you dont think there are entities out there who do not want miami landing a top GM?

they are the ones who flood the sports hacks with "information". teams do not give that sort of stuff to the media. why would they?

and another thing, HOW IS IT HELPFUL FOR THE FANS TO KEEP FEEDING THE FIRE? everytime someone reports on this, makes HUGE thread about it, it hurts us even more.

after while, if candidates keep seeing it everywhere, it has an effect. and thats exactly what dolphins foes want. to scare talent away from us and over to them!!!

the aponte, ireland and philbin fued was real. but, ireland is gone and the fueding is over. soooo, LETS NOT KEEP FLOODING OUR OWN HOUSE WITH SEWAGE!!

nothing is over til dawn says its over. got it?

There was some in-house fighting and problems involving Philbin/Aponte Vs Ireland. Ireland is now gone, so the problem and "mess" is also gone. Move along and don't worry about the past. The problem was corrected.

that will last about a year. when joe gets canned and dawn remains and........whatever.

but lets get one thing clear. Jeff Ireland didnt overspend or underspend. Dawn did.
