I think Ronnie and Ricky will split the LOAD. but for the 1st 4 games i think Saban wants to see how Ronnie does by himself.

Something tells me Ricky will not be getting too many carries. Look at his comments, he doesn't want to be here. He is basically a slave for Miami due to financial reasons. I would rather have Brown starting and have Ricky back him up. Besides, can you imagine the look on the faces of defenses when they see Ronnie Brown go to the sidelines only to have Ricky Williams trot out? Worth the price of admission alone.

I am also in the "they'll split carries" group.

*Ricky needs to split for a while anyway because he'll have a layoff between TC and when he can play....not to mention he's had a year off already.

*Brown is a rookie and rookie RB are notorious for getting tired late in the season. There is no reason for this to happen to Ronnie as with Ricky or without, we've got great depth at RB. Saban has already stated that this team will not be dependant on ONE player to run the whole offense....ala Wanny with Ricky

* Brown is accustomed to splitting carries. He did it his junior and Sr years. If he's got to do it another year, he can hadle it. He not only has the personality for it (I think he's got a great head on his shoulders) but he stated that he'd be OK with it when he found out that Ricky was coming back.

*ricky compalined in the past (always in the offseason though) that he got too many carries.

all in all I think this team will be more successfull with them splitting carries evenly.

Chris Carter is right on point with this. The most important thing to do for the Fins future is to boost Ricky's trade value through the roof. Doing this will get us a mid to high draft pick for him in return. Why is it so important for some of our fans to have Ronnie as the starter this year? Starting Ronnie THIS YEAR would not be in the best interest for our team. Letting them share carries this year would be the best option for our team, it would allow Ronnie to develop, and at the same time; allow us to showcase Ricky's talent and recieve a good draft pick in return for a trade. Then Ronnie can take over next year as our full time starter.

Well let's be glad H23Ronnie doesn't even come close to having 20 million dollars to sign Brown.

What's in your pocket? Packet of ketchup, rubber bands, and a cut-out Playboy picture?

Well I do know that Saban said himself that he would like to get as much out of Ricky Williams as possible, so at the least, I see Ricky and Ronnie splitting 50/50. But that is most likely the least Ricky will get, it's very possible that Ricky could get more.

Why would you get pissed if Ricky were the starter? I just don't get it. Some of you say we pay $$$$ for Ronnie. So its great to keep him on the field.... But the opportunity to split carries only prolongs his "shelf life" as a back. He will get to use his skills at pass catching and running the ball, but we just have a ton of versatility. They could use both of them. But the point is -- if he gets about the same amount of carries as Ricky and can learn this offense in the mean time, and then if Ricky's trade value is increased or if they thrive together..... What difference does it make who makes what? Consider Ricky to be making what Ronnie does, we paid him bank already. (Maybe not as much...)

Who cares who gets what and does what. I want to see a higher yard per carry and an effective offense with less wear and tear on our backs.

some of u guys drive me nuts. while i dont agree what ricky did last year was right, but i'll say this there aren't many backs in the league that can match ricky's stamina, endurance, conditioning,as well as running the ball. just because we pay ronnie 20mill. does not mean he should start. look at who he competing with{ricky williams} just just anybody. also HE will be trade bait next year guareentee, cause we won't be able to pay ricky, ronnie, and our NEW qb next year!!! it's very simple

Lmao well right not I have a cut out of Jessica Simpson and a Dollar. But seriously these teams are throwing money away, like the Giants with ELI and the 9ers the Smith its outrageous for all you know they could become a Akili Smith or a Tim Couch, now RB i believe 20 is more than enough in guarantees but cmon 23million or more, this is crazy, he hasn't even played a down. Don't get me wrong i want Ronnie to play for us just as bad as any Dolphan but i want him to start and split time than have Ricky "The Flaker" Williams start. Listen I don't hate Ricky but I'm skeptical about him and always have been since his IM FREE bs all over ESPN. To be honest if we get Ronnie on a 5 to 6 year deal, then pay him the 20+ million, but if its not 5 or more thats alot of money for a short amount of time. He hasn't even played a Down but I feel as a Optimistic Dolphan that he will Blow up and light up the NFL, I can't wait to see 1 or 2 years down the road, I'ts monday night and we are playing any team in the NFL and we just steamroll them and get into the AFC Championship and see Ronnie blow it up in the Super Bowl and be MVP of the year. He can do it we just all need to be optimistic and GET HIS BUTT IN CAMP!!!!! I can't stand his agent, trying to be like Drew Rosenhaus and crap, lets give him is money and get started with this year on a positive, AND PLEASE!!!! no injuries during non contact practices like last year {David Boston}.

Out on a limb..I'll play Devil's Advocate here.

What if Ronnie Brown just doesn't produce? RIcky sits out the first 4 games, and Brown is in. What if he sux and just can't do it. Someobody said Ricky can't come back until week 6, OK that's because of the Bye week.

Now if you got a Ricky that can work, and a Ronnie that still might get it together, but hasn't yet, what is the scenario?

Ricky might have done things we don't agree with in the past, but I am a "What have you done for me lately" kind of person. Quite frankly I would take a Ricky Williams any time. He is still relatively young, the year off allowed him to heal like no other. I hear what he is saying in his outlook on things - no goals, just do the best you can do each moment. Good philosophy, ain't nuthin' wrong with that approach.

Here's my out on a limb statement; I see Ricky being all he can be and he stays with the Dolphins. I see a possible stable of Williams and Brown. And the trade might be Brown. Why? I have no earthly idea other than it is a possibility.

This is Saban's 1st year, he still doesn't have the players he REALLY wants on this team. No matter how good a coach he is, he is stuck with players he probably doesn't want in his system.

Giving Brown the majority of the carries doesn't make too much sense to me. One of his strengths from what I've read is catching. He will probably get slightly less than half the carries and be the 3rd down back is my guess.

That would be foolish, very very foolish. You don't trade away the security. What happens if you trade Brown and Ricky decides he wants to retire again? Oh thats right, back at square one.

Maybe just maybe Ronnie will play so good in the first 4 weeks that Saban will say "Ricky, Who?". Well not in those words but you get the point.

You don't get insurance unless you need it, and if you need it then there is no way in "H" "E" double hockey sticks that you trade that insurance.

If anyone is traded it will be Williams.
