Looking at FA for the all-important backup QB position

Both Howard and Leonard are guys if you want to develop would be interesting prospects. Both have good size and can run with the ball. You could almost put a short yardage package in for them on day one.

If they draft a QB there are a few that are intriguing for development. Here's the order I like them in right now.
McCord
Rourke
Dart
Howard
Leonard
Cook
Agree. I think the team is going to have to transition from Tua. He just can't stay healthy.

I would definitely look to a developmental quarterback, who gives you some of that athletic ability.

I think you have to factor in NFL experience as an important part of a backup QB's credentials.
That's the thing with backups, their experience has proven to be worst than the 32 starting QBs... The backup position is one of the most overrated position in football, fanbases want to get rid of their starter if he's not a top 10 dude because "You can't win in the NFL without a top 10 QB", then turn around and expect a dude out of the top 32 to consistently win games for them... Delusional.

LMAO. Gabriel immobile? Tell us you have never watched him without saying it. Gabriel is plenty mobile, and he is tough. Doesn't have a cannon but his arm isn't weak. Unless you think Tua's arm is weak. He is very well suited for the timing-based offense designed for Tua.
Tell me you don’t know what immobile means without telling me you don’t know what immobile means lol
Gabriel ran a 4.83 40. He averaged a whopping 2 yards per carry this past year 😭

A good backup QB is like a spare tire.

When you need it, it has to work - there is no time for "experimentation" at that point.

Ignore it at your own peril. - LOL

I'm not arguing that having a solid backup would be ideal, it would. I'm saying there aren't enough good or even mediocre QBs to fill the starting spots, so of course backups aren't good.

As for your spare tire analogy, imagine if the world was out tires, and you'd have to get your spare tire at the scrap yard in a pile of worn tires. You'd just pick one randomly and hope for the best, and pray to god you don't ever have to find out.

Well, I'd check the dimensions to be sure it fit the wheel, and I would make sure it could hold air.

That doesn't seem to be too big a list of checks to go thru before picking one up.

Nonetheless, your options are limited to tires that people deemed not good enough to keep on.

Kyle Crabbs is a super researcher, one of the best pre draft reads. However, I disagree as to not considering a guy like Kyle McCord. Lots of big game experience, threw for 4700+ Yards this season. Accurate, sound arm. Only vet guy I’d consider is Flacco. The OLine would have to improve greatly, though.
I like McCord, and have no issue taking him in a late mid-round pick. I just don't know how much development he will get.

Agree, they must transisition away from Tua. In todays game your QB must be able to run or at least have the threat of running. Look at Allen, Stroud, Mahomes, Jackson, etc. Most of the top teams have QBs who can run. Fins have an invalid with no ability to run playing QB. Tua is a sitting duck and they must find another QB who can at the very least split time with him. Kind of like the ol Woodstrock, for those of you who remember.

If durability wasn't an issue, I'd be thrilled with Tua and just have another option in short-yardage.

A quarterback, or player, who can get you wins in quarterback sneaks.

No.

Their car was worth more to them as junk. That is all anyone is entitled to say without knowing a specific individuals' reasoning for junking their car.

In general, we need to consider that getting a new tire is less expensive and a lot easier than getting a new tire.

If tires were scarce, the car would have probably been sold off for parts and not junked.

You need to consider those two conditions separately

Ray is Right - Again. - LOL.

If durability wasn't an issue, I would certainly be a little more tolerant of Tua. But combine that with all of his other shortcomings and you have a recipe for mediocrity and no chance of winning a Superbowl.

Tua isn’t ideal. I do think Miami can win with him, but not without a running game.

Just saw the Philly tight end absolutely run over a GB defender. I bet Miami was near the bottom of the league in broken tackles. That would help too.

That stiff arm was a thing of beauty! Then Jacobs run was even better than that. Miami doesn't have players like that.
