Looking back at last year's QB situation...

After what you've seen so far of the QB's which one would you rather have now? Mark Brunell, Drew Henson or AJ Feeley. I remember I wanted Brenell, then thought about Henson and said Feeley who? Out of the three I think we got the best one...Paid way too much for him, but he has the biggest upside. I'm not a big AJ fan, but I think with a decent O-line he could be fine. By fine I mean somewhere in between Fiedler and Marino:wink: (I know, I know there is a whole lot of room between the two..a WHOLE LOT!!). But that's what we need. Someone who can make the throws when called upon. That was Fiedler's biggest drawback..Noodle Arm.
 
Eh still it was a bad trade. I might take Henson over Feeley since he hasn't had as much time to readjust and Tuna has given him very little opportunity in practice, TC, and in games. If the Cowboys got him for a 3rd, we should have had Feeley for the same.
 
I agree. Feely for a 2nd was way to much. For a 3rd would have been better.
 
Is it me or were we the only one's after Feeley?? Seriously, was anybody interested in him?? You'd think there would be no way we give up a second rounder.... Guess you can never underestimate Wanny/Speilman....
 
Made no sense whatsoever. Henson was considered a much more valuable QB at the time and yet he went for less.

The Jets offered a 3rd the previous year but the Eagles turned them down. At least I think it was the Jets.

I don't think it was the Jets, but it was an AFC team. :confused:
 
I am not upset the feeley is on our team. I just think we overpaid for him. He probably could have been obtained for a 3rd rounder, which would have left us with our 2nd this year. Oh, never mind. Wanny and Rick would have given that away for a CB.

Is reading a fundamental problem? It's been stated twice now that Philly turned down a 3rd for Feeley the year before.

Some of you live in dreamland. When was the last time you seen a "fair" trade for a QB? QB's are damn expensive no matter where you go.
 
Let's keep in mind, Feely's had the 'luxury' of playing for an aging porn star and a career Defensive Coordinator. I still think with Linehan and Saban, we'll see mega-improvement.

He's not donkey-ears.

I bet the Eagles Front Office was laughing after they got off the phone. They really raped us on that one.:cry:
 
Of those 3, I preferred a gamble on Henson, no question. I was shocked we didn't pursue him more eagerly. Feeley was much more of a known quantity and too much of what I knew I didn't like. Brunnell's arm was shot. You could see that late in 2003 and it was dramatic in the preseason game vs. us last August. He has almost nothing left.

When we traded for Feeley, I assumed Roethlisberger would go in the top 5. That would have been beyond our trade up means. When he slipped so far I was physically ill, especially when we subsequently forfeited a #4 for Carey. I don't know the chart specifics like some of you guys. But I'm guessing it wouldn't have taken a hell of a lot more than an extra #4 and the following year's #2 along with our #1 to move up and snag Big Ben. Maybe one more pick.

Yeah I agree about Roethlisberger. I thought he was gonna go much higher. Most scouts had him rated as the highest QB. I thought he was going to be a Raider.
