Looking Back on the Brandon Marshall Trade

You want to explain how Wallace "ended up having similar personality and chemistry problems as Marshall"

The guy I aloof, prone to throw his QB under the bus and all around not a team player, similar to Marshall. Wallace doesn't have the off the field issues like spousal abuse and stabbing oneself with vase shards, but pretty much everything else we disliked about BM, Wallace also has to some degree.

As much of a bitch that BM could be as a teammate, at least he plays with effort and passion. There is no chance that we would see BM pull a Wallace and make no effort to go get a pop fly ball 1 foot away like in the Jets game last year. That was the most pathetic display I've ever seen by a receiver

I think Marshall is a #s guy, incredible talent but seems to be happy just accumulating #s much like Cutler which is why they are so good together and never win.

Dude signed the big contract, got the money,i'd bet that his character flaws show this year if Chicago under performs... its gonna be a sticky situation

The Brandon Marshall trade was a failure when it happened even with the promise of what the 3rd round picks might have netted. It's even more of a failure after seeing how it played out. And some of you wanted Jeff Ireland around STILL because he didn't do a bad job.

Thanks Jeff.

It was a debacle, no doubt. But the past is the past.

Jarvis Landry will make us forget all about Brandon Marshall, book it!

P.S. Don't harsh Wallace too bad, lets see what he does this year when Tanny should actually have time to throw downfield...

Wasn't a fan of the trade then and looks like it's even worse looking back on it! I support Philbin, but I think he wanted Marshall gone.

Yep, 8 years in the league, 3 different teams and NOT 1 playoff appearance.
He puts ups numbers but his teams (multiple) never win anything.

Good riddance.

Yeah, I think Ireland and Philbin definitely screwed this up.

I don't buy the excuse that Brandon would've caused more harm than good to our rookie QB. In my opinion, I think Ryan could've benefited from having a WR like Marshall in his first season on the NFL. Instead, he was left with no weapons. Hell, even 2 years later we still lack a physical receiver like BM.

And don't even get me started on the compensation and the awful picks that came with it. But yeah, the past is in the past. Hope we can have a decent offense for a change in 2014.

I do understand the thinking that Marshall was one violation away from a year suspension and there was another alleged attack on a woman in the late hours of a club hanging over his head -which did prove to be bogus. So a fire sale that factored risk into the price was prudent on a timely basis. However, IMO there are different levels of fire sales - you don't expect to pay the same depressed price for a Bimmer that you would a Kia and Ireland hit the panic button way too soon by not shopping him around to raise the bidding and settling on 2 3rds instead of at least a package including a second if not better. At that point no one should have given a **** whether Marshall wanted back with his butt buddy or not. That's on Ireland.

Just another in a long line of blunders with this organization that exemplifies why they are no longer an elite winning franchise.

If he wasn't considered a fit we should have had a plan to replace him and gotten real value.

Philbin wanted him gone.Philbin better get it done this year his coaching and decision making leave alot to be desired.

Lets not forget that the following year he dropped like 6 or so TD passes, was involved in another wife beating incident, and was really flaky with all the mental illness issues. Hes also one more incident from a long term ban. I wish him well but I completely understand getting rid of him at the time.
