Looking Back on the Brandon Marshall Trade

I would rather have Marshall than Wallace, but I'm not a HC, and I don't blame Philbin for being overly cautious about having a known headcase, if not one of the biggest headcases in the NFL, on his team in his first season as a HC. Also, to basically say that the Dolphins season's success rides on one WR speaks to the weakness of the rest of the offense put-together by Ireland. It was Ireland's fault we didn't have more than 2 WR's worth starting. Just ask Legedu Naanee.

Horrible trade a decision by our staff. From the view of an outsider the team failed to work with and support Marshall. I know I will be ripped because the Phins can do no wrong but our new coach jettisoned him instead of working with him. He seems to be doing well now and I hope he continues to do well. I deal with quite a few people with mental health issues so to see other posters almost hoping that he has another incident just so their team doesn't look quite as bad after a trade is sad.

This trade pissed me off more than anything, Marshall was far away my favorite player at the time of this trade. I was so disappointed when I heard about.

Marshall didn't want to be here with a new QB.

He could have a 1500 yard season and is still have a sour taste in my mouth after witnessing that ridiculous lack of effort displayed in the first Jets game last year. A pop fly hung in the air for minutes and he did nothing get in position to fight for the ball, resulting in an easy pick for Cromartie. It was disgusting. I was repulsed, and still am, at that lack of effort.

every player will have bad plays, you shouldn't hold it against them forever unless they keep doing it.

By the way, all you guys bashing Wallace are going to be changing your tunes quickly. I think he's going to have a huge year for you guys.

I'm not that confident, but I honestly do not believe Mike Wallace is the problem child some are making him out to be. I think he'll be better utilized in Kelly's offense (at least I hope he will), and he was far from the only player who was upset with Mike Sherman last year.

For what it's worth Skape, Wallace started to show more 'heart' later in the year. That play at the end of the half vs the Patriots was beautiful, and that was all Mike Wallace's desire to get in the end zone.

He consistently showed a lack of effort, that was just the most egregious example

I think he was close to having a big impact last year but the QB struggled to get his timing down w/ him. another year, what looks like a better OL, what looks like a better run game should help open up that downfield attack.

I hated Marshall personally, all he did was complain about the QB then go and drop TD passes. Replaced him with Wallace who im not a big fan of but the jury is still out on him imo.

as far as the trade goes Egnew has a make or break year coming up that if he doesnt show he can play he will be unemployed. And i really like Davis and see him becoming a great CB with a couple years of experience under his belt, plays the same type of game as Grimes just needs to get his level of play up now. Football wise it was a bad trade but we got rid of a cancer player for at least some return.

Never wanted to see marshall leave but then again marshall no longer wanted to be hear... you can say philbin had no problem with that but should of tried to keep him... in the nfl not everyone is a saint and going to be happy you deal with all types of players and if you want to win you will have to have some crazys on your team dolphins currently have none and our record shows it we have no players that wana protect the dolphins name on the field we need a new identity. And a new overall team of players I would trade everyone on this roster no one should feel safe... n thats how they should play.

How many championships has he brought to Chicago?

How many championships would he have brought to Miami?

They never should have traded for him in the first place. Denver used one of those 2nd picks on Demaryius Thomas, I believe.
Ireland should have just drafted a WR with an early pick.

When Marshall recently said the trade was career saving he also said 2013 was the first season he wasn't selfish. That's the only reason I wanted him gone. Once Miami decided they would be going with a rookie qb I wanted Marshall gone at any cost. You can't groom a young qb when you have diva WR saying "To hell with what the coaches say, throw me the damn ball."
