Looks like Miller is heading back to oakland

Then answer this for a fastrated fan. HOW THE HELL are teams like the eagles able to sign 50 players and we sign what 2-3? and now we're up against the cap...what kinda crap is that?

The cap is just a number that well run teams know how to work around and poorly run teams don't. Guess which one we are...

dude stop sayin no ones gone after miller...you don't know that...he may just be waiting for oakland to settle some other things and see what kind of offer they make

but stop with the he's got no market angle

I don't believe it either, and I want to point out how a good amount of the eagles signings have come completely out of nowhere, but it is a little strange that there has been 0 talk about any team having interest in Miller. Don't you think?

it's dumb if teams just assume the raiders will get him signed...that may well happen in the end but pitch the guy an offer and see how serious he is about leaving oakland...if he tells you to be patient while the raiders see what they can do fine no big deal...but don't just assume anything...if you have real interest let him see some #s with zeros after them and then you'll find out how much he loves playin in raidda country

no i don't...i don't believe for a second that just because we aren't hearing much the guys got no market...not at all...i think teams are talkin too him but he's waiting on the raiders to clear cap...probably giving them first dibs...if the raiders had a ton of cap money and he was still floating then i'd say that its likely he didn't have a lot of interest elsewhere...

he's being a good soldier for the raiders...the team that gave him the opportunity in the league in the first place...but he's gonna want to see $ signs soon

I was about to write that I couldn't understand why anyone would give the Raiders first dibs, but Al Davis sure does pay his players, so I could see why.

Like you said in the previous post, I can't imagine why teams wouldn't at least try and throw some numbers at him and see if he at least raises his eyebrows a little. And I don't know if you have been down to miaimi at all, but I would think it's not too difficult to sell this city to someone who will be a millionaire. I was at the beach just yesterday.......... pure paradise. Sorry if I'm rubbing it in.

Point is, that I hope it's not a done deal with Miller going back to Oakland and we at least throw him a little sales pitch.

Said it once and Ill; say it again this FO is a bunch of *** CLOWNS!

Fields is a NT and will be backing up Soliai. We are stacked at defensive end, but very thin behind Soliai. Especially with the only previous depth being a 7th round rookie in Kearse, since Chris Baker was waived yesterday after failing his physical.
Starks and McDaniel can and have played NT. With our depth at DE, we could easily slide one of them over.

TE Zach Miller is visiting the Seahawks, via twitter RevensInsider retweeted by NealDriscoll (cant get access to twitter or i would post the link)

Plenty of ways to add to the cap. The Dolphins can essentially be up to $14M under the cap if they wanted to. There's also the provisions allowing you to be over the cap by 3 contracts being sorted accordingly. Don't have the exact wording of this stipulation in front of me right now at the moment, but I know it can be done as a couple other teams are using these methods with the new cap rules. These provisions add millions to your cap.

The bottom line is If the Dolphins played their cards right they could be close to $15M under the cap.

To add to that, Cut guys like Sapp, Culver, etc etc as well as working on a Soliai extension, and maybe reworking Jake's contract to give him more money up front (this is why players rework contracts as they get big money upfront) easily accomplishes PLENTY of cap room to sign 3, or even 4 good players.

So that's no excuse. This team could easily have added guys like Zach Miller, Carl Nicks, another decent to good WR/RB, and maybe another good defensive player if they really wanted to.

The GM of the Jets is great with the cap and it's why they can have room for really good players every year. In one day last week, he restructured 4 big contracts on his team to free up about $7 or 8M in capspace in a day. And hell, it looks like they're about to resign Cromartie now too. We need pro-active people like this in our FO so we can go for the jugular too.

If the Jets didn't have a fast seam-busting TE like Keller, but instead had a slow sloth like Fasano, you know that the Jets would go after Zach Miller hard and find a way to get him under the cap. That's why they're in the AFC Championship every year and on the cusp while the Dolphins are out fishing when the postseason rolls around.

I hate the damn Jets but you have to admire how their front office gets it done and how they're so pro-active. I guarantee you if we had Revis on one side at corner for our defense, that Ireland and company would never consider or contemplate trying to get Nnamdi. But not the Jets, they still try to get the best of the best. They don't catch them every time, but damned if they don't try and go after the best as much as and as often as they can.

Would you say that this just pushes the cap issue into the future? When teams really fall of the charts it is usually due to poor cap management. 49ers are a good example.

A Soliai deal would increase our cap space. We could also have done that by not signing another DL, the only position that we have too many good players at.

The only back-up NT MIAMI had was an undrafted Rookie F/A. Don't count STARKS: as a NT, he was somewhere between mediocre and "sucks". His position is, was, and always will be DE. And McDANIELS should only be there on sure passing downs. Now, we have a 6'2"/315 lb veteran, who is decent. Don't expect to get an All-Pro off of the waiver wire, etc..

If a person doesn't know what he's talking about, then he should follow BEN FRANKLIN's advice and shut up. That way, at least, he won't advertise his own ignorance.

Well, they obviously thought enough of Starks at NT to make him our starting NT last season until Odrick went down. Most of the offseason talk last year about McDaniel also revolved around him at NT, including him seeing some reps there in training camp. I am in no way saying that Fields is a bad player. He just was not anywhere close to being a need for us.
