never said you dont need role players but the jets could have tendered him at a rate to keep him and passed while we tendered Merling and Murtha so that says enough for me.
Westerman was on a team in desperate need of pass rush and he still only played when someone was injured. He started 3 games last year and his results were .5 sacks 8 tackles. Just another in our long line of below average LB depth

OT in a WCO zone blocking scheme just aren't that highly paid. It's not about individual players it's about the whole unit.

If Winston want $10 he'd go to a power run team, maybe the Giants?

3 - If we wouldn't pay Hicks 2 Million - Murtha 1.9 Milliion and Cook 1.125 Million a year which totals a little over 5 Million a year for backups we could afford Winston. Paying these old guys big money as backups is stupid. We have tried this the last couple of years and they either end up getting cut or they never play. If we had Winston out OL would be Long, Incognito, Pouncey, Jerry and Winston. That would leave Garner, Feinga and a couple others as backups. I would be ok with that. I think we are throwing money away with Hicks, Murtha and Cook! Sign rookies or undrafted rookies cheap and groom them or sign vets for the minimum to play backup roles. We do this crap with special teams guys too and it is ridiculous. Westerman we will pay good money and will probably be mainly ST guy!

You don't "think" we are throwing money away... WE ARE throwing money away. Back up OL's? Are you F-ing kidding me? You could find 20 undrafted 320lb OL's this year alone to do what these 3 will do (or not do) for a total of $1,000,000 combined. Ireland and Ross deserve each other.
