I'm not pleased with how miami played against the Bills, but after that I, like others, have focused on the fins chances in getting into the playoffs still, which the chances are fairly decent. But looking at the nfl, it made me think how I'm glad miami wasn't in the nfc here. Here fins ravens and chargers, whoever gets in, will be in at 9-7 most likely. Meanwhile, the Cardinals, because of tiebreakers against them can be 11-5 and still not get in to the playoffs. Probably one of the best records I've seen from a team to not get in the playoffs, while a 9-7 team gets in for the AFc. Our fins would have been long gone for any playoff chance if in the NFC right now, well unless they were in the NFC East or NFC North fighting for the division, but WC..nope.

i remember the 7-9 Seahawks making the playoffs, and the 11-5 Patriots missing them. those things even out.

The NFL should seed teams like the NBA does....by conference record. Despite the Chiefs record, they are the 5th seed, while a lousier team like the Colts is seeded ahead of them, and the Colts get a bye but not KC....what's fair about that?

You do realize a either a 9-7 or 8-7-1 team will make the playoffs in the NFC dont you? The NFC is no better.

The Phins would be just as fortunate to be in the NFC if they played in either the East or the North divisions. We couldve won either one. Those teams are just not good. None of those teams have any kind of defense. It just so happens the other 2 divisions in the NFC are loaded, which makes it possible for an 11 win team to be watching the playoffs.

I will never apologize for getting in. It is TOUGH to do.

Hi Guys,

I Like that winning the division gets you into the playoffs, but there should be some swing spot, where a wildcard team is interchangeable with a division leader, either for seeding purposes or for actually making the playoffs, incase a wildcard team or potential wildcard team is considerably better than a division winner. i.e. i think if a division winner is at .500 or less, then a potential wildcard team with a better record should get in instead.

For the division, but not for Wildcard. That says something when, a team gets homefield advantage for winning their division even if the division sucks. While a team gets 5th or 6th seed while having a good 11-5 record and better than the team who won their division, because the 11-5 team unfortunately played in a very good vision. Sometimes it seems like it should be by record and not division for seeding. But then again the 7-9 Hawks beat the saints in the playoffs a few years ago. Which is why fins just need to get in, because it's anyones ball game from there once in.

Yeah, the NFC 6 seed will likely be 11-5 or maybe even 12-4.

But the NFC North champion might be the 8-7-1 Packers and the NFC East champion might be the 9-7 Dallas Cowboys.

So please, spare me the cries of injustice.

And those teams could have a rematch too, if Bengals win and fins, hopefully win next week. We shall see how that rematch goes though.

When this happens like you said, should seeding be by record and not division? The best 6 record teams? Then again, best record could be misleading too if one of the teams geting to 11-5 has an easy schedule for the season vs a 9-7 team who plays a brutal schedule. The 9-7 team could be better, because they fought and won games against playoff caliber teams while the 11-5 team won against bottom feeder teams. So records can be misleading too.

Getting in is the key, no matter how they do it. This is a huge game for philbin. The schedule to start was not easy, ahead of this season I think most of us would have signed up for a chance to be in the dance in week 17. They cannot come out flat.

Btw, I wasnt suggesting that it is fair for the Cards to not get in or that the better teams have to travel to whoever wins the NFC North.....

Just pointing out that the idea that the Phins are lucky to be in the AFC is kinda BS. Had we played in the NFC East, we probably have even more wins and clinched already. And we would be hosting a playoff game as well.

How do you think the Chiefs won so many games this year? The certainly cant beat Denver and they already lost at home vs. San Diego. They had the good fortune of playing the teams in the NFC East.

This team is 1-3 against the NFC this year. We lost to tampa.

The whole NFC is all-or-nothing in the divisional races. Win the division or get eliminated.

The OP is 100% correct.
