Luke Kuechly on Tannehill: "He made some incredible throws"

I'm not saying he doesn't make bad decisions from the pocket. All QBs make bad decisions sometimes, and young quarterbacks especially. What I'm saying is that he consistently makes his worst decisions on the run.

Well you may be right on that, but for him to take a step forward, he needs to make better decisions where ever he's at. Yes, I do believe he can be coached up and No, I don't believe Zac Taylor is the guy to do it. So that's where we're at.

There are people on this very board who think that 2/4 for 110 yards and a touchdown on bombs of 40+ yards in the air is a bad line.

What can you do about it? There are people who think that his deep throws were the problem yesterday, and not the two bonehead plays he made scrambling to his right. It is what it is.

Half the people on this board don't know a goddamn thing about football and think that throwing deep is like what you do when you pick Michael Vick in Madden and the ball just zips 80 yards through the air instantly.

Agreed. I was going to to take yet another swipe at that perception altering video game, but, you beat me to it.

For those who think the offense should resemble the Al Davis led Raiders of the 70's, you are delirious, delusiuonal, & dense.

The Walsh/Seifert 49ers, Broncos w/ Peyton, & the Martz led Rams all took a few shots a game but did not hinge their entire philosophy on it.

I was happy to see the over throw by a yard. They are getting closer... When Tanny and Wallace get on the same page on the timing of deep balls and distance it will open up the offense.

I may be in the minority here, but I for one am sticking with the kid, and looking forward to year 3 with HOPEFULLY an Oline that can give him the time to progress and be the guy we're hoping for.. Big things happen in year 3 for young QB's in this game

29th in espn's qbr. thats the real gauge because it takes into account clutch play, not having good stats the first 3 quarters then folding in the 4th like the passer rating stat does. 29th! how can ANYONE on here defend that or say hes making progress??

ESPN's QBR?

That's what your using?

look at the bottom of the espn qbr and tell me who currently resides in it....its the best quarterback grading system you will find. but of course because tannehill pretty much is mediocre and average, at best, you'll dismiss it. denial is not a river in egypt my friend.

Not to make excuses, but on the overthrow did it look to anyone else like Wallace slowed down significantly before speeding up again to catch the ball? That was my initial reaction...

100% agree with this!! Instead of Wallace throwing his arm up in the air that he is open he just needs to keep ****ing running!!

I agree completely I watched that play and for about a step maybe 2 granted it seemed he almost tripped up on his speed slightly, but Wallace did fall back and then missed it by like a step and a half. Wallace did slow down I seen it clear as day.

Most definitely.

After 11 games last season added on to his rookie season, the QB that beat us, who came in as the flavor of the month before the media moved on, somewhat reluctantly, and is now is once again the object of the media slurpfest even with more tools than RT17 ever had including his own legs and a world class clutch receiver was 6-10 in his rookie year and 3-8 after 11 games last season for an eye-opening record of 9-17 up til this point last season. So anyone who's singing Cam's praises, especially considering his undergraduate scandals, his diva attitude and his unprofessionalism in the past, might think twice before considering a premature negative ejac over Tannehill :idk: I also maintained that Reggie Wayne's total TDs, yardage and yds/game was the difference statistically last season between RT17 and Luck (except Luck had more Ints). How's that working out now for him exactly with RW on IR?

Now I'm not saying that Tannehill is in Luck's class or will ever be compared to a seasoned QB coming in and the most highly touted QB prospect since PManning. What I am saying is that it's ridiculous to have someone like Zac Taylor tutoring him as he doesn't know his own ass from his elbow. Mike Shula seems to be doing a good job with Newton on the other hand. So I'm not slapping on any RT17 is/is not our future blinders based on pure emotionalism. Sorry

He's inconsistent. Inconsistency is unreliability. Unreliability is below average. Below average is ineffective. Ineffective means loss. Loss means ...

But don't fret ... I'm sure he'll get another year. At which time we'll have a much clearer picture.

Exactamundo Dude. Believing is Nice, and I get why people love Ryan, nice dude. But I want to Win man. Tired of this Losing stuff. And as of right now, he misses throws, cant make big throws or runs for first downs in the 4th quarter, heck we have not scored in the 4th quarter in what 7 games? Too many interceptions, and turnovers, and 1 Touchdown pass a game is dangerously close to every other imposter we have had since Marino left...

This will give the Tannehill Homers a Double Boner though. Always nice when the Winning team complements you for not doing anything in the 2nd half, but yeah you made some nice throws though. Loser.

i think you are the only one who cares about espn`s qbr...i understand your point, but if you check the PFF rankings, you will see that RT is a top ten qb

Tannehill also made those throws 50+ yards in the air.

Tom Brady couldn't even reach the goal line last night on the same throws.

Both metrics are total garbage.

Based on my understanding of PFF grading, they use aggregate scoring, meaning that a quarterback can have 30 "plus" plays and 2 incredibly bad plays, and still receive a very high overall grade. Which really doesn't cut the mustard when two really bad plays can end a football game in a way you don't want it to end.

ESPN's QBR uses quack methodology that factors in the performance of a quarterback's defense to assess him. That is, of course, absolutely ridiculous. ESPN has also never explained the full methodology used to determine QBR. It is a completely useless metric.

Dude? Really??? Are you kidding me?? Tannehlll cant even hold Tom Brady's Pads. Cmon Man. You are in denial. Oh by the way you realize that game last night was in the Wind. Tannehill will probably be a fine back up in a few years. Tom Brady is a Super Bowl Champ HOF Dude.
