Man Crush List

I remember at the beginning of the season the week leading up to Missouri's matchup with Georgia when Richardson was mouthing off about the SEC referring to it as "old man football"... after Georgia thumped 'em by 3 touchdowns, they were holding up signs that read "Grown Man Football" as Missouri proceeded to go 2-6 in the conference.

Prime example of the reason he won't be on the Dolphins' short list at 12. Joe Philbin wants guys who shut their mouths and just show up to work. He doesn't want Sheldon Richardsons.

For better, and for worse.

Yeah he's a nice talent. One of the few players for Mizzu that would start just about anywhere. Mizzu is vastly overmatched against SEC opposition, but Richardson and Zaviar Gooden are not.

I like the Zaviar Gooden kid.

Zaviar Gooden has what Channing Crowder would refer to as "young, dumb energy". Not in a bad way.

Can't coach that kind of athletic ability though. The kind that makes plays.

I'm torn about Sheldon at tackle though. Feel like he might be more at home on the outside in a 3-4. And of course inside in the nickel, which has become the NFL's new base defense.

That's how I see him. I think he's going to draw interest from teams that use both fronts. If you've got his type of athleticism with long enough arms at that size, teams are going to fall in love with sticking you on the 5 in base with the bonus of reducing you down in rush packages... and Richardson's 34 1/2" arms more than makes him a prime candidate. He's essentially the prototype.

You can't have a thread like this without addressing the other end of the spectrum also... a list of prospects that you believe to be much overhyped and overrated.

Tyrann Mathieu
Logan Ryan
Khaled Holmes
Michael Buchanan
William Gholston
Brandon Jenkins
Manti Te'o
Gavin Escobar
Vance McDonald
Kiki Alonso
Jelani Jenkins
Kevin Minter
Le'Veon Bell
Andre Ellington
Jawan Jamison
Tyler Bray
E.J. Manuel
Menelik Watson
Tyler Wilson
Keenan Allen
Cobi Hamilton
DeAndre Hopkins
T.J. Moe

Any of these players taken in the top 3 rounds is too high in my opinion.... with the exception of Keenan Allen. I'd take him in the 2nd round. Some of 'em I wouldn't take in the top 150.

That's true. The following would be a list of guys that I just know that I'm not going to end up drafting. It's not necessarily that I wouldn't take any of these guys even in the 3rd round, it's that I know that my valuation for the player is so out of whack with the valuation we're seeing publicly that I just know these players are not going to play on my team.

QB Geno Smith, West Virginia
QB Mike Glennon, North Carolina State
QB Tyler Bray, Tennessee
RB Le'Veon Bell, Michigan State
RB Theo Riddick, Notre Dame
TE Zach Ertz, Stanford
TE Vance McDonald, Rice
TE Nick Kasa, Colorado
TE Ryan Otten, San Jose State
TE Michael Williams, Alabama*
WR DeAndre Hopkins, Clemson
WR Keenan Allen, California
WR Robert Woods, USC
WR Aaron Dobson, Marshall
WR Cobi Hamilton, Arkansas
WR Rodney Smith, FSU
WR Alec Lemon, Syracuse
WR Brandon Kaufman, Eastern Washington
WR Marcus Davis, Virginia Tech
OC Braxton Cave, Notre Dame
OG Chance Warmack, Alabama
OT Kyle Long, Oregon
OT Justin Pugh, Syracuse
OT Oday Aboushi, Virginia
OT Ricky Wagner, Wisconsin
DE Damontre Moore, Texas A&M
DE Sam Montgomery, LSU
DE Margus Hunt, SMU
DE John Simon, Ohio State
DE Michael Buchanon, Illinois
DT Johnathan Hankins, Ohio State
DT John Jenkins, Georgia
OLB Barkevious Mingo, LSU
OLB Brandon Jenkins, FSU
OLB Chase Thomas, Stanford
LB Alec Ogletree, Georgia
CB Jordan Poyer, Oregon State
CB Tyrann Mathieu, LSU
CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson, Connecticut
CB Micah Hyde, Iowa
SS Robert Lester, Alabama

*Note: Michael Williams is an interesting case. I think he's consistently overrated as a tight end but if you were to move him to offensive tackle he suddenly switches to my 100 man draft board as one of my favorite ideas.
