Mando: Advice for Steve Ross to Clean Mess

In my opinion, we should let the rest of the remaining 2013 schedule play out before we start tearing down walls.

Or start to think about it. In my opinion, one of the main reasons that we have had a hard time getting on track is due to the amount of turnover that has been taking place within the organization. At some point we really have to settle in a give the process more than just one to two years so that it can develop. Personally, I don't feel that wholesale changes are required unless some type of information surfaces that requires them. We might need to consider changing the GM, some of the coaching staff and of course get some better players in certain positions. Can't keep making major changes and expect to have success.....

What is so special about Joe Philbin that the organization just has to hold on to him?

Jeff Ireland has been with the team for 5 years in regards to your philosophy of avoiding change within team personnel. It's definitely not a coincidence that those 5 years have statistically been the worst in the franchise's 47 year history to date. Yeah, Jeffy has definitely turned into a fan favorite. Let's keep 'em a few more years. :)

IMO, the mistake was hiring Philbin in the first place. Looking at the previous regime's team, I saw a somewhat competitive team that needed upgrades at a few positions and better coaching/playcalling to be able to score more points. Instead, Ross brings in Philbin who wants to install his personal form of the "Green Bay" system. On the surface that appears sound, but Philbin and Sherman have proved themselves to be too stubborn and rigid when it comes to changing things to properly utilize the talents of their players, as shown by the poor running game, inability to make better use of Wallace, and their failure to change personnel when the o-line sucked since preseason. Let's not forget a defense that improved the secondary, but regressed everywhere else. Why is it that they can stop a run on 3rd and 2, but can't stop a run on 3rd and 22?

Mr. Ross, please don't waste any time in cleaning house, and that includes Ireland!

Does anyone else see the humor in Mando, a second rate blogger giving billionaire team owner Steven Ross "Advise"?

Really not what I said or meant but go ahead with that.....

That's sort of what you get when you make huge changes. You get a different philosophy and quite often, the thought process that different personnel are need to implement the beliefs of that thought process. So, you not only get a lot of changes at the staff level, you also turn over players that may have been productive with the previous regime.....

Never said that he was special or that we needed to retain him. I simply said that at some point we need to give someone more than 1 to 2 years to get their system in place. Then we can truly evaluate the direction that the team is headed in. Is Philbin the guy to keep at the helm? I'm not sure one way or another at this point.....

I agree about staying the course, but the team needs to change course after the off the field crap. I blame Martin for this, but it does not change the fact that Joe returning will be a reminder of this time. If Joe was winning big, it might be worth him coming back. However, he does nothing special for me...in fact, I think he underachieves.

Hayden,

There's 6 more games left in the season. right? Let's wrap up the season and do a thorough evaluation of where we are. Let the due diligence take it's course. That's all....

Hayden - I love your passion for our team but specifically why are you so negative towards Coach Philbin? What I see is a smart guy who is very well organized and he has a detailed plan that he is progressively implementing. The key to his plan is teaching, skill development and discipline of the players. He is very introverted and not very effusive in front of the cameras and so not the sort of guy to shine in the limelight (like Rex Ryan, etc) but I don't think that is all that important if he gets results. One could hardly consider Bill Belichick a media charmer, he would prefer to just give his name, rank and serial number at the press conferences.
In contrast with Philbin, I had zero confidence in Tony Sparano. He got the job because he was a loyal soldier to Bill Parcells. He worked incredible hours (I heard somewhere he worked 17 -18 hours per day every day). Apparently he had a fascination for statistical detail of his players and could accurately announce how many snaps every single player had for every game, tackles, yards, etc. These were good attributes for an assistant but not for a Head Coach and it was a fine day when he ultimately left the building. The team was going nowhere.
This season we are 5:5 and have been competitive in 4 of the 5 losses. We were totally outclassed in New Orleans but not the first to be in that boat. While we are in all these close games, I think that there is a lack of killer attitude in the team. The New England game was going very well at half time and then Brady just took command and grabbed it by the throat. I haven't seen Miami kill off a competitor and I sense that we will be average until we do.
I stand behind Coach Philbin for a further year unless he is involved in issuing a "code red" on Jonathan Martin.

We were outclassed due to turnovers. Take away those and it would have been a much more competitive game. I know, if....

As for the Martin saga, I'm not sold on the idea that a code red was ordered. If that does turn out to be the case, then I agree. He's got to go...

I think we need to let the investigation play out. We don't yet know that there really IS a problem with the Dolphins organization. All we really know is that an immature and perhaps selfish player walked out. Everyone already knew what we had in Incognito, although I think everyone hoped he'd grown up a bit more by this time, including our coaching staff and Ireland. As far as this season is concerned, I don't think we want to think about significantly changing the operations of the team until we are certain it is, indeed, a losing one. The Dolphins may yet win the friggin division, for heavan's sake.

Bro , What Eerybody is missing is that Richie hasnt done One thing Wrong , That the rest of the players in the league has done / is doing , the only diffrence is Richie had a Snitch (Martin)playing along , then when he couldnt handle it anymore he went to the Media , 1100 + text messages between Richie and Martin , But as for Richie commenting Murder ,Naa it didnt happen even if the Media is carring it that way, Look at ALL THE VET PLAYERS ,EVERYONE that was in a NFL LOCKER ROOM SAID ,that NO LOCKER ROOM IS DIFFRENT , and when all is said and done i think Richie will have time served 3-4 games without pay , and IMO is plenty for one player to get suspended while the whole NFL Team Players are doing the same thing But didnt get Snitched on and when all is said and done i hope that Martin Dosent get Not One More Red Cent , nor will he be welcomed Bk in a NFL Locker Room Even if the League Lets Him BK NOBODY will Trust Martin And they wont be able to think as the Locker Room as there place to feel in a room with Friends and Family because they will be looking over there shoulders wondering WHAT Martin is going to run and TELL ON THEM for being there selves and instead of feeling More like there at home , but feeling like there in a room with a BIG FAT SNITCH TO RUN AND TELL THE MEDIA SOMETHING TO TRY AND GET THEM INTO TROUBLE , i just dont see Martin being able to go into VERY MANY Locker Rooms after all this ....
