What Mando discusses has been tossed around here in the previous days. I still think that Mike Sherman will resign to save Joe Philbin. However, if Ross sticks to his guns and demands changes, I could see Philbin being loyal and not jettisoning the coaches. At that point, what would Ross do?

BTW, as the article speculates, IF it comes to light that Philbin was argues that there was not enough talent on offense to produce, I might totally lose it on this board. At what point, does he have any damn responsibility of how this team plays?

Yes, the line was not good, but the skill positions were excellent. Plus, why were they running stretch plays with this line? Where were the adjustments to teams blitzings? Screens, roll outs, draws, quick throws? Is that on the players too.

This is going to be interesting to watch...sounds like Mando thinks something goes down today or Friday...

and the winner loses on!

I heard Cyril Richardson compared to Larry Allen last night. interesting.

What I don't understand is why our defense seems to be getting a pass. I do know that we were in top ten in points allowed, but man we got gashed on the ground, were terrible at getting off the field on 3rd downs, and never stepped up in crucial situations. I think Coyle needs to be on the list of potential fires. Our defense has regressed noticeably under him.

It might not just be Joe's loyalty to Sherman. It may extend to Sherman's key position coaches like Turner and Zac Taylor (cough, son in law), both of whom came with Sherman from Texas A & M. Armando is probably just speculating, but I can see Joe defending his coaching team rather than being a pragmatist and just cutting certain ties.
Does Ireland get into the evaluation of the coaches or is he flat out just trying to keep his own head above water?

ha...philbins in an around about it way putting it on the gm...he's the primary issue...upgrading personnel is a must

The good ole boy network is alive and well. The mindset that coaches cant be fired because it may affect the other coaches is a problem. This kabal needs to be broken up.

Otherwise known as bend but don't break, which may work against some teams, but against high powered offenses(New Orleans) the door gets kicked in.

What decent coach would take a coaching position where his predecessor was fired against the head coach's (and his new boss's) will?

Dysfunctional much?

At the end of the day I see Sherman, Turner, and maybe George Edwards (LB coach) fired.

Contrary to what some believe I don't feel a full rebuild is needed. Just some tweaking.

Would u pass up a dysfunctional job if it meant you could be paid hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars? Idk many jobless people/coaches that would turn that down. Especially if they have a budding star QB and talent on the offensive line.

Yep and when Ireland is fired, FINALLY, Joe Philbin is in sling to FINALLY be responsible for how this team performs. I am sick and tired of people blaming the GM, the OC, the DC, the second year QB, the owner, the Oline, bad LB's and allowing the stinking HC to have a pass.

So you admit to being wrong about the Brandon Albert trade? Way to man up.

Thank you. I have been asking someone, anyone for the past few days to tell me that they truly believe that Philbin had nothing to do with putting this roster together. People act like Jeff Ireland made every move without Philbin's approval or without Philbin signing off.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Philbin said re-signing Reggie Bush was a priority, a player he had to have, Ireland would have re-signed him. Ireland was the guy who traded for him. Similarly, if Philbin told Ireland that he needed all focus to be on the offensive line, I have a really hard time believing that Ireland would have said no. Philbin was involved with drafting Jonathan Martin and Dallas Thomas.

Bottom line, if personnel decisions are an issue (and they are), Philbin bears some responsibility.

We lost Reggie Bush, Jake Long, Karlos Dansby, and Kevin Burnett.....and we replace those players with worse players. We didn't get any production out of our 2013 draft class, and we headed into the draft with 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. In terms of just raw talent, this team was worse this year, yet our record improved. I honestly believe our 8-8 record is better than the talent on this team.

I have it on good authority that Joe Philbin has had final say on personnel decisions dating back until at least 2008.
