A few things that Joe has done that I do not like that goes against my personal football philosophy. One, this team is softer. I like a physical blue collar team. I think the defense has regressed on his watch. If the team was better at stopping the run and getting teams in the known passing situation, maybe they would create more turnovers. Also, the lack of commitment to the run game bothers me. I believe in running the ball to set up play action and keep the sticks moving. However, again, they have turned the offense into a finesse looking group.
I thought he was pretty clutch vs. Atlanta, Cincinnati, Pitt and home against New England.
He also gave the team a puncher's chance in losing effort vs. Baltimore.
Umm, you got help me. I have no idea what you are saying...
My position on the Albert deal was that a move should have been made for pick 2b or 3a or a conditional for this year...and not the early pick in round 2.
I also believe that Ireland is being blamed way too much for how the team performed. You bring Harbaugh and his staff in to coach this same roster and we're in the playoffs.
It's clear that Ireland involves Philbin in the personnel process, we saw glimpses of that in Hard Knocks when he bounced the Vontae trade off of Philbin before he pulled the trigger. Anyone who thinks Ireland makes personnel decisions in a vaccuum is insane. When Philbin was hired the resounding mantra was that the front office and the coaching staff would be in constant communication.
I'm sorry, but I blame how this team finished on JOE PHILBIN AND COACHING STAFF. Is this team loaded with pro bowlers? no. But they are far from talentless. Every team has deficiencies. Our issues were with Oline and playcalling. I don't even blame the defense, because no defense holds every team under 14 points each week. Your offense HAS to go out and score points. It wasn't a surprise to anyone that our Oline belonged on a flag football team after a few weeks, so account for it! They still ran the same plays in the same schemes in week 17 that they did in week 4. That's on the coaching staff!
No its not just one , ITS BOTH Philbin and Ireland that make the decisions BOTH are to blame .
Agreed, however there wasn't much Ireland could do by way of personnel late into the season. They all **** the bed by going into the season what the oline in it's state, but the coaching staff knew the Oline wasn't what they thought it could be quite early in the season, yet they continued to do the same things. At least attempt to make up for the deficiencies. How many Lamar Miller's up the middle out of shotgun needs to be stuffed for no gain before you put that play to bed? Tannehill runs the read option and picks up 50 yards, never saw it again...
and the winner loses on!
I heard Cyril Richardson compared to Larry Allen last night. interesting.
Would u pass up a dysfunctional job if it meant you could be paid hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars? Idk many jobless people/coaches that would turn that down. Especially if they have a budding star QB and talent on the offensive line.
