No, Phins need a decision maker who will draft and sign beasts, that is the top requirement for the GM. The get along part is a preference. He seems smart, oraganized, & conscientious which means he and Joe probably got on well.
Isn't that what the phins need? A HC & GM who get along and think alike.

I have no problem with giving him a chance but not sure what he has done to set himself apart from the other potential hires.

I want someone that helped creating a competitive team, not a losing one. Is that too much to ask? I'm not talking about coaches.
Do people not know by now that this isn't an exact science or black and white? I see these arguments all the time about "what has this guy done" or "this guy has never been a coach in his life".
We have all seen HOF coaches fail in new places and we have seen people with no experience do the same. However we have all seen HOF coaches move to new jobs and succeed and the same with coaches with no experience. The same can be put into this GM search. There is really no way of knowing what guy is good or bad based on what they have done.
Each team is a new challenge with different resources and opportunities. I am pretty sure that more players would be interested in playing in Miami than in Cleveland.
Just because the Browns haven't been as successful as they would have liked doesn't mean this guy can't come to Miami and win a Superbowl.
I like Farmer as long as he doesn't push his faith and try to make suggestions/demands regarding bible study and similar. I've read a couple of articles along those lines. During his NFL playing days he tried to claim the recent champions got there largely due to their devotion to christianity.

Thx for sharing. I was not aware that Farmer was one of these guys who believe that the game is strictly for christians. This is a bit scary if he is committed to a strictly christian agenda. I bet that no-one prayed harder than Tim Tebow but he only had a pass completion percentage of 47%.I like Farmer as long as he doesn't push his faith and try to make suggestions/demands regarding bible study and similar. Farmer appears good but if he is totally committed to finding players devoted to christianity, he should realize that our owner is Jewish and I'm pretty sure that he will never embrace a strictly Christian agenda for all players. Incidentally, many other owners are also Jewish, eg Robert Kraft at New England, Jeffery Lurie at Philadelphia, the Glazers at Tampa Bay, the Wilfs at Minnesota, Arthur Blank at Atlanta, Daniel Snyder at Washington, Robert Tisch part owner of the Giants, (even the late Al Davis at the Raiders, I don't know about his son).I like Farmer as long as he doesn't push his faith and try to make suggestions/demands regarding bible study and similar.
