The number 1 job of any coach is to put players in a position to succeed. Play to their strengths, not just your system.

Personnel cant really be a valid excuse for Sherman IMO. The reason being he was calling plays that were using the wrong personnel all season. For example against the Ravens when we were 4th and inches, he called a shotgun stretch play using Daniel Thomas. Daniel Thomas is the wrong personnel to use for that play because it is an east west speed play thus we needed Miller in there, not Thomas. Sherman put his own personnel in positions to be unsuccessful all season, then he blames the lack of effectiveness on said personnel. The play designs were so bad, that personnel alone is not the issue.

But the O-line is the wrong personnel...I agree about DT running stretch plays...not his thing...although running a stretch play on 4th and inches is stupid anyway.

I agree that some of the problems were simply talent, but not enough to justify the excuse of personnel in deciding that Sherman is not at fault.

We know some players can be upgraded but how do you put together a game plan against NE and than no game plan the next two weeks. There were other games that Sherman play calling was just so bland. Its the fact that he is so stubborn.

Really? I think that is always his source. Remember the "mutiny" comment after the players supposedly went rogue after being told not say anything about Martin situation yet Joe actually told them to be honest? Pro stories on personnel? Knowing there was nothing to Ireland telling Martin's agent to "punch Incognito"...He is always a source for Mando.

I remember those stories, and they were all false, or have yet to be proven correct.

I don't think Ireland has experience in a 4-3 system and that may play a part on why these odd fits are occurring. It makes no sense what he is doing with the front 7.

I'm told Steve Ross wants some change to offensive staff. Joe Philbin wants to keep his staff intact.

I don't believe it. Push comes to shove, Philbin will shove Sherman over a cliff. He moved his whole family here, he's been adept at securing a spot in Ross's lap, he's distanced himself from the Incognito thing and came out smelling fine, he fired players left and right and showed little genuine hesitation doing so, so I think he does what he has to do to keep his job, period.

If we start winning though, that wont happen.

We were close. minus 60 sacks, a martin jackhole, raw wallace in system, a bully, a vet Rt not established in system, injuries to key cogs in this offense, ect ect. ect.

You fix this Oline and get a big TE with Tony G. size (A Sefarian Jenkins, Justin Jones) or even Ebron and people get exited again. Its the nature of the beast.

But if Philbin is THAT stubborn just fire everyone and start over....

its easy to say just let them stay and hell if it works it works if it doesn't fire everyone.....

But this is setting a dangerous precedent. Philbin must feel like his sh***** don't stink right now
