Mando: Winner in the Fisher Drama is Ireland

So Ireland was out there coaching? He was out there dropping balls and helping the defense fold in the 4th quarter over and over?

Keep em comin.
Seriously? So the GM has no impact on what goes out on the field? Though that's the defense and receivers he assembled.

Ireland did draft many of these guys and sign them so he has some responsibility. he was also a part of our failed back to back 2nd round qb's that have been failures

You know those were Ireland's picks?

No, white was a Parcells pick and we all know as much. Henne, well he was drafted when Parcells was overlord. So I'd say again, Ireland probably had very little say in all of that.

He's been a member of the FO, but has only been in charge ONE season (whether some of you want to aknowledge it or not). Other than the Colombo pickup (which Sparano had a hand in) what had he done in FA and in the draft that was a disaster?
We all criticized Matt Moore, but in retrospect he was much better than anyone thought. Burnett, Bush were good p/u's and the draft was solid.
Many of you wanted Mallett, however numerous GM's also passed on him so Ireland wasn't in a minority. There were legit questions about Mallett and I believe Ireland would like a more mobile QB. I think Ireland NOT drafting Mallett is the main reason why so many people levy criticism at him. Get over it already. Its not anywhere near the scope of Saban passing on Rodgers or Wannstadt passing on Brees.

You are going to argue that coaching has nothing to do with wins and losses? You think that just assembling a talented team = instant success regardless of coaching? Ok, you keep thinking that.

We have no clue how much say he had in it. For all we know Irleand gave glowing reviews of White which led to Parcells being hooked on him. There has not been one report that Irleland did not want white. So if we are to only judge Ireland on time without Parcells his team he put together regressed one game to 6-10, awesome job Jeff

I think BP valued Ireland's opinion, but BP had the final say. You have no idea who Ireland wanted to draft in each rd.and you have no idea how many times BP ignored his advice.
All of us are speculating here. The only objective analysis can be made this past offseason when he was in charge and he did pretty good considering he didn't have a 2nd rd pick to work with

Wow, and you're going to blame him for those picks based on your ridiculous assumptions that have absolutely ZERO base in anything resembling fact.

Awesome job....

Well if he just sat there and collected money for three years whats so great about him, Im pretty sure he is the man that breifed parcells and got him excited on this player and that. As for passing on rodgers almost 3/4 of the nfl passed on Rodgers so as much as many want to fault Saban for that, its not like he was some clear cut superstar. I liked Rogers alot and argued with many of our gurus about him but im not going to claim i knew he would be a stud. i never thought brown was worth the second pick.

Not at all. Coaches are culpable just as the GM is. There has to be accountability for Ireland. What you're doing is the epitome of scapegoating. Last year, for a lot of people it was all just Henning. That's a very narrow view of the team's problems. 3 straight losing seasons. There's a lot of blame to go around.

the fact is that he is gm so its more ridiculous to assume he had no part in it unless you have proof that he was against these picks,

Fact is. Parcells was over him and many have said White was a Parcells pick.

GM or not, he was beneath Parcells.

Thats exactly what I said but he is the GM and bears some responsibility we cant just assume the bad picks were parcells and the good ones were ireland. We have no info but I know Parcells did not sit around scouting guys he has people doing that for him and Im sure his opinion was based on more than watching TV.Even if we dont know whoese final call it is its safe assume that Ireland advised him on these picks. I have not read one place where it has said he was against this pick or that.

Like I said we cant absolve or blame him but he cannot get full blame or full amnesty because he is the GM and no matter what he has some say.
Parcells has said it was his pick , he never said Ireland was against that pick and neither has Ireland. So like another poster said I guess for total facts he just made free money for three years and we can only judge him on our current 6-10 year.

So then by thats logic when the wr catches them game winning TD ireland gets no credit. Or when them defense makes a goal line stand to win them game he gets no credit. Was he out there coaching?
