Manning calls out his O-line

People are way overreacting, that is what's going on here.
Manning simply said that "we had protection problems".

As you stated he was under immense pressure.
Manning wasn't calling anyone out, he was stating the obvious.

No one is overreacting, one of the unwritten rules for QB's is to never call out your OL publicly.

it's one of the unwritten rules for LEADERS never to place blame on anyone else. unfortunately, real leaders are hard to come by, even in places where we assume we have a leader. sometimes it's hard work for followers to project leadership qualities onto their "leader" in the face of reality.

Did you guys see the press conference with Manning after todays loss to Pitt? Manning was pissed. But he screwed up when he called out his o-line. Manning was scared stiff for almost the entire game and then he wants to call out his teammates? WOW. This will rub some folks the wrong way.
To bring up another point: Alot of people are comparing Marino and Manning, as far as numbers and now people are saying Manning is like Marino when it comes to bad luck in the playoffs. But I have to draw the line on the Marino/ Manning comparisons. They are nothing alike. Marino could carry a team with a LOT less talent and go further with them. But, more importantly, Marino never EVER singled out a player or a group of players to lay the blame in their laps.

good post. did you happen to hear what terrell davis said on NFL total access right after the bears game? he said that peyton plays a style of game that's suitable for the regular season: a finesse, timing-based offense that gets thrown off when the pressure is on. davis mentioned that playoff QB's need to be able to move (and i don't think manning moves in the pocket all that well) because it's "smashmouth time" in the playoffs. all the finesse stuff goes out the window. i'm thinking the comments are something that the network would only play once, because of their target. manning may be remembered as the best regular season QB of all time, but that won't get him near marino.
