"I still defend [Dan] Marino. I still defend [Fran] Tarkenton. I still defend Jim Kelly. All I know is what great quarterbacks they were. I've seen guys change when they've won one. They kind of say, 'I'm out of that club now. I'm in this new club.' I kind of like being in the old club with guys who just played their butts off every single Sunday. Jim Kelly, Marino, Tarkenton, John Stockton, you get guys not just in the NFL. I admire those guys for how long they played, how well they competed, how hard they competed. That's really all I want."

He's talking about Super Bowls. There are people who take a lot away from Marino for not winning a Super Bowl[jealous dolphin haters], it's nice to see a QB who has one come out saying how it is not all that. New respect for Peyton Manning right here.
 
Only because they were saying that about Manning before he won one.

If Manning won a SB early in his career like Brady did, Manning wouldn't give a sh*t.
 
It's impossible to know someone's true character when you don't really know them. For instance, in real life I'm actually a nice guy... Of course, I could be lying.

FYI: Karl Malone and John Stockton got me into sports.

I was a basketball fan before anything, and I always rooted for the Jazz. I was a 5 year old Davie redneck, that liked the Jazz. haha

So the experience of having been one of those guys for a while eliminates his perspective/wisdom?

Bull****.

If playing as well as he has and coming up short has taught Manning a degree of humility, so be it. Anyone who judges the value of a quarterback on how many Superbowl rings he has is an ignorant *******, anyhow. I can't think of anyone with brains who'd rather have a peak Terry Bradshaw on their team over a peak Marino, Kelly or Tarkenton.
 
I'd like to hear Manning defend the 'Before' lady about having 45 lbs. of fat in her gut cause I'm not seeing it. 25 tops.

 
I'm rooting for Manning to get his second ring this year over Brees and the Saints. He's just about the only guy I can find no reason to hate.

Just as long as they lose one game between now and the end of the season :)
 
Manning got a gift SB, he's had some of the best talent in the game to work w/ most of his career and only had that one gift where he was good for only one half throuhgout those playoffs. if marino had teams like Manning had he'd have 2-3 SBs.

Manning also knows his behind Bradyy and the biggest reason is b/c of the play in jan/feb and by rationalizing other great QBs who didn't win he is putting himself ahead of Brady when clearly Brady is well ahead of him.
