I have no idea if Peyton Manning is or ever will be 100%, but if he is here is what I consider the perfect way to solve our QB issues.
1. Sign Manning if he is healthy and available. Yes he will only be around for 2 or 3 years, but he makes us an instant contender, will put fannies in the seats (Ross knows this) and we gain instant respect and credibility. Again this is if he proves to be healthy and can regain his strength in his throwing arm.
2. Retain Matt Moore. I believe he has one year left on his contract and is a great insurance policy if Manning goes down. Did some good things in the time he played last year.
3. Draft Tannehill. My ideal scenario would be to trade down, pick up another pick, and grab Tannehill. I would love to get him in round 2, but by all accounts he will go in round one. We can then sure up the O-line, TE, or whatever defensive position they feel they want to sure up. Sherman seems to like Tannehill.
Under this scenario, A. WE ARE INSTANT CONTENDERS, B. WE HAVE OUR QB OF THE FUTURE WHO GETS TO STUDY UNDER THE MASTER FOR A FEW YEARS, AND C. MATT MOORE IS A NICE INSURANCE POLICY SHOULD MANNING'S ARM FALL OFF.
I like it.
