Manning zeroed in on Miami Dolphins

i see no reason the rams should rush into this trade out either...all the cards are in their favor sure a couple teams will bow out after manning and flynn make their destinations but this rookie gm imo unless the offer is flat out unprecedented for that #2 pick is making a mistake trading it this early...if that in fact does happen

i'd make some people sweat and milk em dry...

Per @greggrosental, Ive talked to some folks that believe Manning will quickly sign with Miami the strongest possibility soon after he's cut.

The article made it sound like he can't sign with anyone until free agency begins on the 13th, is this true or can he sign whenever because he was released??

so the worst thing could be no manning, no RGIII, no flynn...hmmm sucks.and solai?

If we lose Soliai...sounds like the Chiefs and Chargers are hot after him, we could maybe trade down and take a guy like Dontari Poe to clog up the middle at NT.

I believe he can sign right away. He would not have to wait until FA begins. Im 90% sure.

There's a perception that the Dolphins will bend over backwards for Peyton Manning and that Peyton has all the leverage here. I'm not sure I'm getting that. I sense that right around when that one report came out saying that Peyton had a secret surgery in between his May and September 2011 surgeries to remove yet more bone spurs (he'd already had bone spurs removed the prior year), and that he's already got more bone spurs that need to be removed...when that report came out, it was pretty coincidental that from then on Miami went from second-place behind the Redskins, to the team that EVERYONE suddenly began saying is going to get Peyton.

It's sort of like the Jerome Messam situation. Messam hurt his knee during the CFL playoffs but several teams were interested in him anyway. Then he pushed his rehab too hard and took I believe a calf injury. At that point every single team that was interested in him dropped off the face of the earth...except one, the Miami Dolphins.

You don't even hear much out of Arizona anymore about wanting Peyton. Rex Ryan is absolutely butt-crazy in love with Peyton Manning, and you don't see much about interest from the Jets. The Redskins went from the team that pretty much everyone was saying were the front runner...to now people don't even talk about that possibility anymore. What I sense is that a lot of the interest has dropped off because of fears over Peyton's medical situation, and it's only Miami that is remaining strong.

All valid points CK. But I think the redkins want RG III, the jets would love to have manning but it would mean they would be admitting they ****ed up drafting sanchez. Also I think Henne will go the jets cheaper then manning would. As for the cardinals I have nothing for them Im not sure why there isnt more public interest expressed on there part other then they are playing it close to the chest.

if the jets end up stayin away mannings medical must be quite dicey...otherwise i think they'd be all over it...but then again maybe they're just flying under the radar buying time...and waiting to pounce

That's the thing...Rex Ryan adores Peyton Manning. If they're not going after him then they must be really scared off by the medical stuff. Same with the Redskins.

Excellent points.

at the same time though they may just be waiting...i can't count the # of times i've seen the media say a guys going somewhere in free agency etc and at the last minute someone swoop in out of the woodwork like a condor and sign the player

if after mannings released we hear reports that only miamis interested then i'll worry about the medical cause yeah these guys would be in on this unless the medical is a mash unit

Honestly, we are probably in the best position to get Manning because we have a solid backup who I believe can get us to the playoffs if Manning goes down. At this point, I would assume the risk of signing Manning. He will likely be affordable (because he is damaged goods), so if everything works out for the best, you have a HOF QB leading your team. If all else fails, you have Matt Moore coming back who did a pretty good job winning games last year, but now playing under a better offensive system.

I don't see much of a risk in signing Manning for that reason. He won't be our only option once the season starts. If we were picking higher, I would rather get RGIII than Manning, but considering we can't get to RGIII, Manning will work fine.

Its obvious that the staff doesn't consider Matt Flynn to be a franchise QB, so I don't think its much of a loss if he signs elsewhere.

While Rex may have a man crush on Peyton can you really see Peyton playing for him? Their personalities or at least what we know of their personalities just don't seem to fit together. Also I'd be surprise to see Peyton wanting to play in the same City as his brother.
