Manny Wright To Get Cut?

It might look like that he won't make the team based on him being lazy and out of shape, but he will make the team. Putting Wright on the IR could be an option IMO. It doesn't seem like that he will play at all this year because he as ALOT of hard work and learning in front on him.

he aint gettin cut. prolly wont play this year but he will def have to show up next year at camp

Remember this name when the heads roll.....Jeff Zgonina....

Manny Wright is not going to get cut this year or even next. You don't cut a guy you used a future pick on before you even officially get to the pick, that's a Wanny move.

No a Wanny move is to make a bad pick and then stick with it even though it isn't working out. Who cares if you used a future pick or a current pick? The fact is you keep the 53 best guys who give the team a chance to be successful. Like Saban said in his PC - he has to weigh if a guy has the potential to surpass a current guy in front of him. He did say if you recall a timeframe of 6 or 8 weeks if I remember NOT next year or in 2 years.

We used a draft pick on him at the supplementary draft. He's a work in progress, we know that and I HIGHLY EXTREMELY DOUBT that we will be cutting him. He will be the future starting DT of this franchise and I have high hopes and expectations for him and am sure he will vastly improve greatly in time. This kid has tons of potential and he's not going anywhere.

Based on what do you say this? He will be the starting DT and has tons of potential based on what?? He was a backup DT in college. What has he done to say he will be a star? Because he is a big kid? He couldn't pass the basics to be able to stay in school - is it his smarts that say he will be successful? He has missed probably more time than participated in camp - Is it his performance? Let's not forget Kevin Carter's comments where he went out of his way to seperate Vickerson and Wright -
"I think he only missed the first day of camp, and he's been in there every day working his butt off, and he hasn't quit, and he hasn't thrown up or passed out, not finished practice or done some of the things that have happened to Manny."
- Is it because of the impression he has left on his teammates? Carter is an all pro - IF he singles someone out like this that says alot to me!

Guys are whining about you don't waste a 5th rd pick and cut the guy - WELL guess what - we may have a 7th rd pick be our future DT - now that ain't bad! As long as one pans out who cares? I actually see Shaw as performing better than both but I have only seen the preseason games not practice. Get over the fact that not all picks make it. You hit on some and not on others - you just hope you hit on more than you don't!

I completely agree, Zgonina is the DT most likely to be cut. In 30+ years of following the league it's been obvious to me that's where the so-called surprise cuts come from, older marginal players. You don't oust young talent if there's a journeyman vet hanging barely above him on the depth chart. Especially in a year without legit postseason aspirations. You hang on to the potential future even if it means sacrificing a tad in DL pass rush depth this season.

Just because someone disagrees with you they are automatically mean that they are whining?

No - Sorry to give that impression. There have been alot of responses that have said - We are not going to cut him because he is a 5th rd pick - or how ridiculous - or where do these people come from to suggest this. A bit of frustration on my part as to people's rationalization that just because it cost a particular draft slot he has to stay on the team - and possibly at the expense of some more deserving. Bad choice of wording on my part.

No you are both right. Both dumb moves are classic Wanny.

I really doubt that Coach Saban will begin his reign by wasting draft picks. This kid is going to stick at least through next year. He will probably be developed all through this year and played sparingly.

He won't get cut, but may end up on the practice squad for a year or two.

I'm not sure Coach Saban is very high on Manny. What are the odds he gets cut? If we do cut him..He'll get picked up by someone.

They knew he was a project when they spent a pick next year to get him.

So u don't cut projects especially when u know u expect nothing out of them for a coupl eyears.
