Marc Ross to Interview per Mando

It would be a shame if these strong candidates back away based on the current front office make ups.

Stop Hayden. Please stop.

These are good names that have not interviewed nor obviously accepted a spot. Lots of work to do.

I am so tired of being laughed at as fins fan. It is time to get it right and I will not shut up until I see that happen. Sorry.

I know he is more than qualified to be a GM, especially after being a Director of College Scouting at just 27, but anyone thinking Rooney Rule?

This is the first I've heard of Marc Ross, but he has solid credentials and experience. Princeton and UM alumni, 15 years of scouting/management experience, and was part of some solid drafts. Definitely worth interviewing.

Sorry, don't think his draft history is that much better than the Fins in the same span. Better coaching down the stretch in some of those years, but I look at their roster today and our roster I don't see a big difference. Maybe even better on our side.

Besides, too many Ross names. The board would get too confusing.

I didn't realize he was black.

I believe the Rooney Rule is for head coaches. Anyways, this would be the second minority we would interview anyway. Alonzo Highsmith was mentioned as a candidate already.

Rooney Rule is for both Head Coaches and GM's.

I'm sorry, but I'm... not terribly impressed by those Giants drafts since 2008?

I think people would end up excited about him.

We should stop being the team that others cut their teeth on. We need continutiy now, not gambles..No offense to Tom Gamble. We gave Saban, Cameron, and Sparano their first shots at Nfl HCing. I'm still not convinced Philbin is the guy. Idk, it's all a gamble I guess.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I mentioned in another thread that we've selected 1st time head coaches and GMs for the past ten years. (I know people will argue Parcells, but he really did jack ****.)

Can we call that experiment over already? Yet, I can see arguments of why people may not want a retread coach.

Look every coach gets fired. Even the great ones. Shula by Baltimore, Belichick by Cleveland. Look at what Andy Reed has done this year. Or what Coughlin has done up in NY.

We don't just need to return this franchise to respectability.

We damn well need to restore some credibility.

Bringing in up and comers don't give us that.

What former GM's are worthy? Hell no to Pioli.

The good news is that there are a number of well qualified candidates competing for the job. I'm pretty optimistic that they can make a good appointment.
It will be interesting which one emerges as the favorite (probably Gamble). When Ireland came in with Parcells and Sparano, we had just gone 1 - 15, drafted Ted Ginn Jr the year before and our best QB prospect was John Beck. Whoever is appointed will come into an 8 - 8 team that was not far off making the Playoffs, has a young QB with high potential and set with many decent young players with high potential. Despite Florio's and Mando's perennial doom and gloom, this is a great chance for a new GM to seize the opportunity. Carpe Diem.
