Discusses all things Dolphins. I think he is right that RT has the ability, but issues he had last year are creeping back.

The part I like and Mr. Ross HAS TO consider is making him part of the organization. Make him the president of the team. Allow him to set up a personnel department. I would love to see it. Why not bring back the best Miami Dolphin of all time. All someone that has been in the trenches lead this team. It would also be great PR for the owner as he tries to give a face lift to this team and find funds for a stadium.

Quick watch...recommended.

They tried that once. I believe it lasted 6 hours before he quit.

He was dealing with an Idiot GM and Dumbstadt who wanted to make him a puppet. I think it would be much different this time around

he sure didn't look to happy (or comfortable) fielding questions about the team...

Marino tried his best not to be critical of the team and RT. You could tell he wasn't laying it all out. I wish he would take on a leading role in the organization. Is it a matter of Marino not yet wanting to do it or Ross has no desire to invite him? Wonder if Marino would dive in a Elway role since he mentioned Elway?

It may be the time for him to take a role in the organization, but I don't know if he wants to leave his cushy job with CBS to do it.

What makes him qualified for a major NFL job? How about being connected to the NFL in some capacity for about 30 years. He has the respect of people throughout the league. Plus, he will help bring credibility locally which is a must with a dwindling fan base and need for stadium upgrades.

Many had the same questions about John Elway and he has done a great job with his team.

I bet if Marino was in charge when Peyton Manning was a free agent, Miami would have had a puncher's chance to land him. It would have been a lot better besides the hotel meeting that Philbin had with him in Indy.

Perhaps the greatest Dolphin of them all is the one to bring them from the depths.

No doubt if Marino was in the organization when Manning was shopping, the Dolphins had a chance. Elway landed Manning but there is no situation where another Peyton Manning is in the free agent folds. Like Elway, Marino brings credibility to the organization but are you really convinced that Elway is a great exec or did he happen to pull off the luckiest QB swap going from Tebow to Manning? Do you really believe that once Manning is gone the Broncos will remain a contender? I don't know the answer to those questions but even if Elway continues to be successful, it has no bearing on Dan.

Also keep in mind, Elway went from playing to owning an Arena League team. By his own admission when he came to the Bronco's he wanted nothing to do with a GMs job because "I don't have the experience to be able to pick those players day in and day out." Not sure I'd want Elway setting up my personnel department. Additionally, just being in the game for 30 years doesn't mean you can be a success in a front office or on the sideline as a coach. He's been in a studio for years which is far different then the daily grind of an NFL front office.

I love Dan but I'd much rather the Dolphins conduct a through search through NFL front offices and hire the best qualified guy from there.

No doubt that Dan was the Man on the field but I question the wisdom of making him the Man off the field and putting him in position to make final football/personnel decisions. Player personnel and scouting is a grind and I'm not convinced that Dan could or would want to dedicate his life to that. However, as team president, with a overview of football matters and as a trusted set of eyes and ears reporting to the owner - that I can live with.

Marino would definitely bring Star power to the front office, and that would be very helpful for recruiting. But the guy I really want to see is Pennington as QB coach.

Huh, Marino says " You can't throw the football from on your back" and both Simms and Colinsworth say the o-line has played horrible. That can't be right, the WPA says so.
