Martin & Incognito: Correlation Doesn't Equal Causation | Why We Need to Start Over

:bobdole: I don't even know where to begin... I was illustrating and providing examples of how it happens on both sides... Unreal.

Look if you have ANY CONCERN as to who is being 'railroaded' then take a look at the first 20 or so threads in the forum... The Incognito machine is on perpetual SPIN cycle.
Right, but I think that's influenced heavily by the other players' expressed sentiments in this issue. That's essentially the most reliable information that's come out so far, IMO.

Have you not read today's articles how Cogs was not the only person all of the sudden? After all the players came out and called Martin out. The timing of all of this is so calculated. Its bull****. The team had to suspend Cogs or look even worse because they didn't get mad at him for using the N-word. Cooper is an example of this. Also the team did Incognito a favor by suspending him as it brings the NFLPA in to defend his rights as well. We haven't seen Richie get a lawyer as of yet. Only Martin. His family is looking for a fight not resolution.

Who is surprised by Martin lawyering up????? Seriously... How was that not expected.. when from minute ONE this was a legal and litigious issue???? So how is this anything other then normal procedure... and yet here we go again... More spin, as people WANT this to be further evidence against him. And if you don't think Incognito is receiving legal advice... I don't know what to say.

I'll bump this in light of Incognito's interview today, as I now feel even more strongly about it.

IMO there is too much conflicting evidence for us to believe with a sufficient degree of certainty that Incognito's behavior was the cause of Martin's leaving the team.

Because the team values its PR, since it drives ticket and merchandise sales and thereby sustains the organization, and the 'N' word in today's culture is a PR killer. You can't be a business in the public eye in today's world and let your customers' perception be that you implicitly "support" the use of the 'N' word by your employees.

The team has to act on the basis of the 'N' word alone until the matter is investigated and the details are sorted out. However, that doesn't mean the 'N' word is what caused Martin's behavior.

I don't disagree at all..I just think after Monday it's time to bring him back.

Riley Cooper is a great example. Vilified earlier this year to no end, actually did divide the team, but 5 TDs the last two games and I don't think Eagles fans care.

Bring Cog back, he is mad, rested, and motivated. God bless the DT lining up against him. Good play and winning Dolphins football will put this in the past.
