And I know the Dolphins have another prominent quarterback they are tracking as an outside possibility to fix the team’s decade-long desert experience:
Peyton Manning.
If Manning is available (big if) and if he’s deemed healthy (bigger if), the Dolphins will definitely be part of the group of teams chasing him like a pack of dogs chasing a T-bone steak.
That doesn’t mean Miami will land Manning. Too much is still unsettled on that front. But do not discount the possibility because it was a prominent topic of conversation at camp Saturday by high, high, high-ranking team officials.

I'm sure this is more of Arm And Oh's inside info?

This guy should be brought up on charges of slander with all the BS he "Reports". Its like seeing newspaper articles in the Fiction portion of the library.

That is not true. I listen to Armando's Radio Show everyday and when everyone was saying McCoy to Miami, Armando was questioning McCoy over confidence. When an NFL Insider came on his show and said Philbin was out of the running, Armando answer was a source close to Philbin tell me that is not true. Armando knows his stuff and is a very qualified reporter.

Wait!

What?

Just last week, Arm And Oh suggested he had insider info that McCoy was already the coach. The articles are in HERE!!!

He is neither qualified nor good. He guesses lucky once in awhile.

he might be damaged goods , but i'd still take a chance on manning! really what do we have to lose ?

The opportunity cost of getting Peyton Manning would be getting anyone else. When we find out that he's got no strength in his arms and chest and can't throw the ball the way he used to, we're stuck with him for a year. And as we've proven with Matt Moore this season, we're not bad enough to Blow for Barkley.

You listen everyday? What in the hell did you do wrong? Thats cruel and unusual punishment

I know nothing about this kindnof injury but when I hear nerve damage and a bunch of unsuccessful surgeries I know enough not to my breath for manning.

Plus this is the dolphins nothing that good could happen for us.

i wasn't aware of the fact that manning was done. obviously we don't sign manning until he has medical clearance .
and what if manning is healthy ?
do we still pass on him?

The dude has nerve damage and underwent THREE neck surgeries. The last one he underwent, cervical spinal fusion, is not a surgery that repairs damage or heals what's hurt, it's a desperation surgery that's a last ditch attempt to prevent further damage.

Personally, I think he will retire.

Even if Manning regained is health, he will get Trent Greened early in the season.
His neck is fused. Pretty serious situation.
We do not need to see a NFL great getting carted off our field in Miami Dolphins colors.

If Manning were to pass a physical and be deemed healthy enough to play the question, to me at least, is can he function in another offense? He was in the same offense his entire career and he ran that offense. He really didn't get plays from the sideline, he got like 3 plays and he picked one and then still had the go ahead to audible to something else once he got to the line. Would a more "structured" offense be too restrictive for Peyton?

I'm not saying we shouldn't explore bringing Peyton in, if he's healthy, but I just have my doubts with his physical abilities diminishing, his career being spent in one system that no other team runs and the fact that we gave up 52 sacks and one hit could send this guy to the emergency room and out of football...or worse. It would seem risky for both sides.

This is a great point and one I have brought up previously when the Manning to Miami first started during the season. You have to remember with Peyton that the Colts don't sign free agents. They draft guys and coach them up within their system, and the coach of that offense is Peyton Manning. Guys like Clark, Garcon, Wayne, have been playing under coach Manning since they got into the league. He's been pushing them to do it his way and really molded them into his weapons. The Colts players talked during the season about how one of the biggest problems they faced with Curtis Painter is that he just couldn't run the offense the way Manning does. That they just weren't on the same page with him with the calls and all of that even though he's been in that system for years now.

You can't just plug and play Peyton Manning and expect to get that Colts offense.
