Mccoy= vanilla offense....

Well if you're not going to credit Philbin for the offense in GB, why would you pick him over McCoy? McDaniels came for a winning organisation, so did Mangini and Crennell and there are plenty of examples.

Philbin has learned under Mike McCarthy. McCoy has learned under Dan Henning and John Fox. I don't care what McDaniels did. He is a giant douche whos ego caused him to trade away key players. Mangini and Crennell aren't offensive coaches, so they're irrelevant to the discussion.

I agree with this, philbins are guy, hopefully ross doesnt let ireland make the decisions and makes the right one and goes with his insticts. Mccoy is garbage, ireland wants a puppet, philbin wont stand for that so he wants mccoy.

Mike McCarthy would be 7-9 every year without Aaron Rodgers. He is not some sort of offensive genius. If Matt moore is pur QB next year we will go 7-9,8-8 or 9-7 no matter who the HC is.

Why can nobody trust that Ross and Ireland heard something they liked about his plans for the offense. If Ross wants a high Octane Offense he will go after one. I seriously doubt McCoy sat there and said "I'm a vanilla guy who loves to ground and pound", followed by Ross jumping up saying "you're hired."
LOL ! :lol2:

Alex Smith is not better than Matt Moore.

If they switched places, the 49ers would be in the same spot right now.

Much better than Matt Moore actually. Hence why he was a 1st overall pick and playing in the NFCCG, while Matt Moore went undrafted and is sitting at home.

Disagree. Alex Smith just finally has a coach that knows how to work with QBs.

So what happens if he turns into a really good coach, do all the people that bash him jump on his bandwagon?

I'm sure the 3 different head coaches and 6 different offensive coordinators before Harbaugh got there had no effect on his early struggles...

What does being the number 1 pick have to do with it??

Lol, read my post. I said if they switched teams than Matt Moore would be playing in the NFCCG. I've seen a lot of Alex Smith and he finally has a coach that is showing confidence in him, but he's not an elite QB. Matt Moore is every bit as good as he is.

you cant really say that. Smith did play better if only slightly better than Moore but to aassume he would have led the niners to the same point is based on nothing. Moore hasnt even earned or kept a starter job over a whole season so there is no comparism.

Courtney Brown went #1 overall in 2000. Adawale Ogunleye went undrafted. Courtney Brown goes to the AFCCG in 2005.

Clearly, Courtney Brown >>>>> Ogunleye

Not at all would they be playing in the NFFCG. Matt Moore is your typical backup QB. He does his job coming off the bench as the backup. But with 3/4 of a season worth of game tape and a whole offseason with Matt Moore being the guaranteed starter come day one, he'll be the same worthless QB he was when put in the same position in Carolina.
