In all fairness, no matter who the coach is when we’re losing we never really like their press conferences. Flores was too much coach speak. Philbin and Sparano were blinding idiots. Gase was…well, Gase was Gase.
I can’t say that the press conferences after wins with the other coaches named were as fun as they are when McD is behind the podium after a victory. Yeah, when we lose or when we’re on a losing streak I’ll get pissed off at his demeanor towards it, but I’ll take that for the winning McD.

It’s not that simple & like all of life, it’s not black & white- nothing but grey area.
Should this clown be acting a fool considering how much he has underachieved?

The way one comes at McDaniel on this says more about that person than it does about McDaniel.

Maybe he should act one way & maybe it’s okay to act another but only one thing is matter of fact- you (the general “you”) are going to judge him based on the values of YOUR island.

He’ won one Super Bowl two years after taking over from cower With Rothlisberger in 2008. He lost the Super Bowl two years later in 2010, again with Rothkisbwrger and hasn’t been back since…
If a coach who wins 1 Super Bowl after inheriting a team with a Top Tier QB that had just won 3 years prior, and then spends another 16 years not winning the Super Bowl is your idea of “Great”… then you have pretty low standards.
He had Ben Rothlisberger until 2021 and hasn’t even won a Conference Championship for 14 years!! That’s greatness to you??
If he was in Miami the fans would have run him out years ago…
Oh and lest we forget the time he used the Jumbotron to time stepping in front of a an opposing player on his way to returning a kickoff. That’s REAL professional….That is 10000 times arose than ANY joke or comment McDabiel has made…

You’re comparing a coach that has actually WON a Super Bowl, and numerous playoff games to a coach that has never done it before. In your mind, you actually consider that a rational and defensible position on Mike McDaniel? Guffaw.
Bear in mind, Mike Tomlin has never coached a losing season in 17 years on the job. So your childish theory is that he has ridden on the coattails of Cowher’s regime for SEVENTEEN STRAIGHT YEARS? Holy moly.
Tomlin has won SEVEN AFC North titles, and remind me again how many times that Mike McDaniel has won the AFC East? Take it a step further, what is Mike McDaniel’s record against the Bills? These aren’t comparable entities.

176-101-2 regular season record, and is a model of consistency year after year. His teams always play TOUGH, rarely beat themselves, and come to play every week. He’s a firm believer in PRACTICING, and the way you practice is the way you play. He’s the polar opposite of Mike McDaniel.
This is one of the most nonsensical and ludicrous arguments that I’ve ever read on this website. That’s really saying something. I guess you were swinging for sensationalism and safeguarding of coach McDaniel - well, mission accomplished.

Don’t put words in my mouth. I ONLY argued that he is not a “great” coach. And the ONLY comparison I made between him and McDaniel is that McDaniel would never be low class enough to step into the field of play to interfere with another team’s scoring play while pretending it was an accident. You may call that “greatness”, but I call it shameful and embarrassing.
As for his incredible record… again, he had Ben Rothlsberger and arguably the best personnel office in the league, in a division where the only real competition has been the Ravens, and until recently, a perennially mediocre Bengals team.

That is ridiculous. This is McDaniel’s 3rd year and he took over a team that had not been in the playoffs in years. He didnt go into the playoffs the first year with Tua, he had Skylar Thompson. The second year he played against the superbowl champs led by a hall of fame coach and a hall of fame QB in one of the coldest games in history with a beat up online, injured receivers and no defensive ends.

See, that’s the crux of the bolded above. Your definition of great in this particular instance is completely at odds with the rest of football fans, players, his coaching peers, owners, columnists, and most of the entirety of Planet Earth itself.
I don’t think that I’ve ever, ever seen anyone argue that Mike Tomlin is a below average coach, or is mediocre, even a “decent” football coach (until tonight that is - yikes). And to add insult to the premise, he did so for seventeen years straight (make it eighteen this year) while riding on the laurels of Cowher from 18 years ago? Seriously, take a second and parse that one out. That simply does not compute to any rational person.

Sure, and that happens at the level of the players, not at the level of the head coaches directed at the players. When it happens from a head coach toward the players, the head coach places himself at the level of the players and it undermines his stature as their leader. He becomes "one of them" instead of their leader. He then becomes less capable of leading them.
