McIntosh and the O-line shakeup...

No offense either, but you are hyping dmac a bit. He isn't that good. He is only a stop gap until we get someone better

I'm not hyping him at all. I'll be the first to admit that he struggled last year when he wasn't healthy... but this year he's been close to perfect. There's a reason why many teams wanted him to be their starter last year. Pay attention to him now and I think you'll like what you see.

Actually I believe the reason had more to do with the fact that he was injured during the entirety of training camp and through the first part of the season, and therefore could not successfully move from LT to RT, a position he'd never played before. That, and John St. Clair was doing mediocre at RT...and yes, plus Wade Smith sucked so much arse.

I paid attention to him as a starter in San Diego. He's still a drive killer. There are 2 big 'if's' to him. A) Can he regain his pre injury form and B) Can he knock off the stupid penalties that are always associated to him.

Lotta if's there and it says a lot that San Diego with Houck didn't attempt to keep him and when Houck came here McIntosh was immediately put to 2nd team.

For the Fins sake...for his sake and for your sake...I hope he makes the pro bowl as a starting LT...RT...or any damn position on the O-Line...gotta believe.

Go Fins!!!

You're saying what I would expect an agent to say for him and honestly I would have less respect for you as an agent if you said anything different. You're doing your job well. Just forgive us if we try to form our own opinions free of commission-related bias...no offense.

Actually as far as I get it the only way Brett gets paid is off any future changes to his contract or an entirely new one. Of course I could be blowing out my rear end on that one.

Vernon Carey has taken his game to another level with Houcks coaching, he still has a ways to go but he was playing quite well. McMichael and the backs did McDougal no favors in their blocking Saturday. I think this may be more of a statement to everyone on the OL. Nobody is a lock, and if you dont keep it together there is someone else that can. I also think the difference from Carey to MacIntosh isnt going to be that much, while the improvement from McDougal to Carey should be good.

I'll defer to Brett on this one, but I think that once you switch agents the standard 3 percent of your base salary also switches from old agent to new agent. Besides, I said Brett is doing a good job and that's key to note, because an agent's JOB is to look out for the best interests of his client at all times, right or wrong. Basically, his job is to be biased and convince everyone that Damion is the best thing since sliced bread. There's nothing wrong with that. Having read what Brett has had to see on the subject of being an agent I am convinced that he is a knowledgeable, professional, experienced, and successful NFL agent.

But he'll have to understand that when he comes out with something like this about a client of us, we assume he's biased because he's paid to be.

It's not bias. Go back and watch your tapes from the last two games and tell me how you grade McIntosh's performance.

We can't until we see some first team action which I guess we will against Tampa Bay. I'm sure Ozzy etc will be breaking down the game tape to that one pretty carefully.

It would sure help things if one of the O-linemen would have a lock on their spot by playing really well. D-Mac playing well is what we really need right now.

I graded McIntosh well, actually. You are definitely right in that he has done well this preseason and his progress may have prompted this move. But it was your implication that the coaches are doing this because they trust McIntosh more than Carey at LT that I disagree with.

He graded well, but he was not facing the same competition that Carey was either. And, though he also graded well in pass pro, he did not grade out as well as Carey in run blocking.

You know Brett, I have said this before and it is almost always ignored. But if MacIntosh wasnt at full speed he would have to gain an advantage somewhere especially against speed rushers. For a guy that knows the snap count tying to time it to buy yourself a split second seems very sensible. Thus causing a few false starts. So I have always kind of written off his penalties to a guy trying to play through the pain.

THAT is probably the biggest reason why DM is LT and VC is RT.

Except he was the same in San Diego before getting injured. What did L.T. tell us the day we got him? He said to be prepared for frustration over McIntosh's penalties. This goes back to day 1 with McIntosh and his penalties.
