Shouright, maybe it's in your nature to quit when things aren't going right. Do not speak for the entire Human race.
Justasportsfan said:Haha! One player sucks therefore the entire unit gives up. What a bunch of Mularkey :D If that's true then your team might as well close shop or join Synchronized swimming. I thought the better players are suppose to help the weak ones become better players . With your logic it's the other way around.
Miami's line was pitiful the previous year. Nails came in and was modivated to prove himself.shouright said:So then why was the line so much better with Mark Dixon at left tackle, even with the same coaching and Ruddy, Perry, and Nails in there, all of whom are no longer in the league?
It's not just when things aren't going right, it's when things aren't going right, a person has no control over them, and they don't look like they'll get any better despite anyone's best efforts.Justasportsfan said:Shouright, maybe it's in your nature to quit when things aren't going right. So then why is he the only starter who "can't play a lick" according to his teammates?Dphins4me said:Miami's line was pitiful the previous year. Nails came in and was modivated to prove himself.
The also had a new RB that helped modivate them a little. It was an aberration. They went back to old form the following year and it had nothing to do with Smith.
OK did McMicheal look discouraged when he chewwed out the O-line?? No he didn't he looked outraged by their poor performance. They aren't good. Start to realise that. No one on that line played well. If we had been playing the Pats, Ravens, or Eagles, AJ might have got killed back there, or at least injured.shouright said:So then why is he the only starter who "can't play a lick" according to his teammates?
If that was actually said.shouright said:So then why is he the only starter who "can't play a lick" according to his teammates?
According to the article, the player said, "everyone on the team knows Smith can't play a lick."Dphins4me said:If that was actually said.
Also just because one player feels this way does not mean others do. Beside from what I've seen from any of the OLman I think it can be said that any of them cannot play a lick.
And this player speaks for everyone?shouright said:According to the article, the player said, "everyone on the team knows Smith can't play a lick."
THat's alot of bull. You're telling me that since the guy next to you isn't doing a good job that you're just gonna throw in the towel and not play to your potential?? Get outta here, man..Those guys are here getting paid when no other teams wanted these scrubs. You think they WANT to look bad so that they'd get benched or even cut?! C'mon, bro....You play your best regardless. If you think that all of a sudden when Macintosh comes back that they're all gonna just magically play better than my friend you are a more disillusioned dolfan than myself.shouright said:Saying that the whole line is to blame is PART of what I wrote originally. The theory is that the whole line is giving less effort because they know that even their BEST efforts will be undermined by Smith.
I'm not saying they decide to do this consciously. But when you're mentally and physically fatigued from trying to compensate for such a weak link, it's gotta take its toll after a while. Hell, look at the defense. Take a look at how they've played on opposing teams' drives just AFTER our offense turns the ball over. Same dynamic.BringBackShula said:THat's alot of bull. "Mental toughness tiring out" is a key point here. When guys are leaving the huddle thinking plays aren't gonna work because they're going to Smith's side, I'm sure they're not lining up with their full amount of mental toughness. And when your mental toughness is tiring out, your physical toughness isn't far behind. It's little wonder the line gets pushed around like it does.Krie30511 said:Man the people arguing against this thred need to read the thread opener again.... he's saying they are discouraged! not quitting... i'll be willing to bet that 80% of the writers on this board have never played a down on a real football team... padded up and everything.... when you have players that are not playing, 1. to there best potential or 2. no good at all, especially when its the line, feel helpless and it does demoralize the unit... you become less effective as a player and you mental toughness usually tires out. There is nothing that this line can do to change Wade Smiths playing, so they are helpless... there is absolutely nothing they can do about it... so I agree, BIG TIME, the OLINE was very discouraged.. maybe they played there hearts out but in the back of their minds they knew it would be in vain if Smith was on the feild, yet again
OK but what's the solution, remember DW picks the starting players, so he felt Smith was ready. It's mindboggling that people on here can't realsie that the talent and coaching on the line are the worst ever.shouright said:"Mental toughness tiring out" is a key point here. I think the talent is below average too (though Smith is WAY below average), and the coaching probably stinks too because of all the turnover in personnel on the line and in the coaching staff (Collier, Foerster).darkoak said:OK but what's the solution, remember DW picks the starting players, so he felt Smith was ready.
