so take out mark clayton and add steve largent. he was probably low 4.6's (and landry is faster than that).
He's not starting over Hartline, Matthews... and maybe not even Gibson this season![]()
And yet...Landry out produced Beckham.
Mark Clayton ran a 4.6???? Was he running backwards? Dude ran a 4.4. Marks Brothers known for speed. Clayton could also jump out of the building.
Despite a productive college career, Clayton was not considered a top prospect entering the 1983 NFL Draft. At 5'9 and 163 pounds and 4.63 speed in the 40 yard dash, Clayton's physical numbers weren't impressive. He was drafted in the 8th round by the Dolphins--the 223rd overall pick of the entire draft. (The NFL Draft no longer has an 8th round)
I expect the new offense to have a higher percentage 3 and 4 receiver sets. I expect balanced play selection with high expectation for productivity from the running game. Receivers that block well are worth a lot in that type of offense. I expect Landry will get plenty of playing time. Gibson and Mathews had better learn to be physical blockers if they want to stay ahead of Landry. Landry is the perfect choice for type of offense I expect to see. It is important to remember a player moves up and down in value based upon the scheme of each team. This was Ireland's critical failure. Landry's blocking ability had to raise his value within the scheme I expect. For the expected scheme, Landry was an incredible value.
Chances are he will next season though. Hell be better then both Hartline and Gibson imo. Making both or one of the expendable since Rishard Matthews is a comparable player to both. And much cheaper.
All of our receivers not named Wallace give 110% and are really good blockers.... In a 4 receiver set you'd have Wallace, Hartline, Gibson and Matthews... unless one of them gets hurt I doubt Landry gets a huge amount of playing time. Think of him as Matthews a year ago. That's about the same amount of snaps he'll get, barring injury of course.

I disagree. I think Wallace is the guy on his way out next offseason.

I can only assume you have never seen Jarvis Landry play or his game film...or you would never make a statement like this guy is Matthews a year ago.
This guy is pro ready...does it all including blocking...I'll be shocked if he doesn't make a big impact as a rookie.
He says every player is his most favorite player in the draft.. Grain of salt.
We'll see when the game starts who is who.
and you can affirm this because?? Is this speculation, or simply your opinion...You can post this type of comment, referring to last season, otherwise, my guess is as good as yours, but it must be respectful, not laughable, this shows disrespect...All the best for you
