McShay on Landry:

Matthews is becoming the new Hartline on this site lol

The kid does everything that is asked of him the 1st 2 seasons and has good hands, but somehow we "need to upgrade" his spot. I think he's the next guy in line for slot receiver if/when Gibson goes down again and Landry is going to be in his old role of coming onto the field in spurts to give the starters rest.

Check out the Landry videos. We just drafted the toughest player pound for pound in the entire Draft and he catches everything in his vicinity - he does not drop the ball. I like Rishard Matthews and was impressed by his improvement last season, but we just drafted a major weapon for Tannehill. Watch the Landry videos and if you already have, then watch them again, because the answer is self-evident and he is probably going to be a team favorite.
We could be set to have a surplus of WR talent when teams like Carolina are putzing around with Jericho Cotchery and New England has LaFell, Josh Boyce and Julian Edelman.

He says every player is his most favorite player in the draft.. Grain of salt

and if mcshay would have said landry is way over rated and will never start, that its proof hickey was the wrong choice, our lil pal MATEO would have quoted him like the gospel.

it just makes me laugh when you quote a report on a player form a mag or blog or media person and a fan has the opposite opinion, those become garbage mags, idiot reporters, etc... .

you get people who have made up their minds and NOTHING, NO FACTS will change them. if they hate someone, they can and never will do anything right. even if a coach, gm or player does something good, it is labeled a fluke or "anyone could have done it", etc.... .

this is a real shame and i posted pre draft what we would see on the board after the picks. this is going to be the draft that started the rebirth of this franchise. it was pointed, calculated and carefully researched. the plan for what and who they wanted was as clear as a payne of glass as the players were selected. when you researched them, they all fit what we needed, what they wanted and all had exellent traits for pass blocking and toughness and leadership. all things missing on this team and the o-line in general.

and another sad thing? someone pointed out how many of the draftees were team captains and a couple guys replied in the thread about "well, i guess the only thing hickey wanted was team captains" and other snipes just like it as having leaders and captains [voted by your team mates] is a bad thing, something to make fun of. one of the very things missing on this team forever was leadership and i have seen fans griping about that [including me] for years. we draft high character players whos team mates voted them captains and hickey is a lost bum.

it seems like this kind of nonsense will never stop. its just so toxic with the fans lately.

Almost everyone so far has said they see Landry as a slot receiver. I think he can start there this season. We don't know if Gibson will be ready, and he can play outside if he is. I know this board LOVES Matthews, but I don't see it. I liked him 2 years ago and had high hopes for him last season, but I was not blown away. I think Matthews is the odd man out this year. Gibson will be the 4th receiver who can back up all 3 positions. 5th receiver will be Binns or Hazel, due to their Red Zone production and ability to go up and get the ball, something we desperately need.

I love the Landry pick and can't wait fot training camp.

That just proves the point perfectly.....Clayton was a 4.6 and yet some fans perceive he was a speedster.

i have posted all over this board that jarvis landry reminded me of mark clayton. almost a clone.

and i watched all of his career. landry will imediately put gibson on the bench and mathews on the street. with binn coming back [who looked like the big, intimidating wr we needed] that seals mathews fate. especially if the rumours of the coaches not liking him are true. he hasnt improved in any facet. gibson isnt the player landry is at all. and he is coming off an injury.

landry was one of my top 5 players in this draft, along with billy turner.

i agree with most of what you're saying....so why did you thumbs down my post? lol I was serious and think he could actually be a dark horse for oroty....

I think Landry will have a real opportunity to start because, like you said, Gibson may not be 100%. He better get to work studying though cause he'll only get to play when he's on the same page of the playbook as Tannehill. If he does get to start and his game transitions well to the pros I think he has a real opportunity to be the offensive rookie of the year. Think about it -- Tannehill should have a big year stats wise just as a product of Philbin's philosophy to throw the ball at every opportunity so if Tannehill has a big year then his receivers will have a big year and Landry could easily put up Hartline type numbers even as a rookie. 1100 yards and 6 or 8 TDs should put him in the running for rookie of the year, which will make Hickey look like a genius.

May**** said that watching beckham jr. he often was confused who was who, he said he always liked the tough one more and that's Landry .

I meant in regards to him coming in with established starters already on the team and the playing time he got that year.

He's not going to come in and know all of our plays, routes, audibles etc. in his first year.. Let alone be able to beat out established guys.. Not happening this year.

That's where your wrong...when you draft players ready....they are ready...naive attitude bro.
