Mel Kiper has Dolphins taking C.J. Mosley in latest mock draft

Id take him at 19, we need an impact player and he is one of need at MLB and while may not be HOF, he can be a poor mans Zack Thomas. Save OL for rds 2-3 and sign McKinnie to man the right side for a year.

We must have been watching two different teams. Our defense as a whole carried this team. We were ranked bottom 5 in every single major offensive category and yet managed an 8-8 record. Our defense carried this team in at least 12 of our games, playing good enough to win. If we had even an average offense, we would have been able to pull 10 wins out of our ass.

Did we have weaknesses? Of course. Very few teams resemble what the Seahawks had last year. But make no mistake, anyone who thinks our defense was a PROBLEM wasn't watching the same Dolphins team.

With that said, I'm not against the pick as our LB was mediocre *at best*, but we do need major improvement on the OL more than anywhere else on this team.
Must have been, because I saw a relatively mediocre defense carry a bad offense, leading to a mediocre 8-8. Bravo. True, they weren't "bad," particularly in the run game (so long Soliai), but they weren't particularly good either. Mediocre or average is being kind. I will give them the fact that while teams owned them between the 20's, there were quite good at preventing TDs, hence the "bend-but-don't-break" description I've used. Unfortunately for them, that won't fly against the offenses we are facing this year, particularly with so many unknowns in the secondary. Grimes is the only known quantity back there. Everything else is guesswork and hope. Hell, at least on the O-line we have Albert and Scarf...I mean Pouncey.

And our LBs were bad. Mediocre is a kind description. I guess we can hope they improve.

Fixing the OL doesn't require disregarding every other weakness we have, at least not for a good GM. LB and secondary players are absolutely worth considering.

I'm i crazy for saying I would MUCH RATHER pick this guy!

Ryan Shazier

Crazy closing speed, Acceleration, Playmaker written all over him. The guys energy and raw ability just jumps off the screen. Quite frankly C.J. Mosley looks like he's standing still next to this guy!

why is there a thread for every thought from this nobody?

For me, it comes down to one simple fact: Our offense is MUCH worse than our defense.

When are offense can score even 23-24pts/game (you know, somewhere around the league AVERAGE), then we can focus on the defense. When your defense is a top 10 in scoring allowed and your offense ranks 26th or 27th, I think that should tell you all you need to know.

I'm tired of this team being carried by the defense, I'm tired of winning games 19-16, I want to see this team score in the upper 20's consistently before I start worrying about the defense. Especially a defense as solid as ours has been for so many damn years.

Alabama LB's don't excite me. Perhaps it is because of McClain. He was the best LB in college at his time. IDK Mosely is ok but his injuries scare me. I would rather pass on him.

Said it 100 times the d was suppose to carry the team in 2013 while the 2nd year qb and offense made some strides...you are kidding yourself if you think this defense's situational play was high level...lb play wouldn't allow it to be frankly

If you ask me I see a changing of the guard with this team in the near future where the offense carries the d...especially if Father Time starts catching up with guys like wake and Brent grimes and none of these young guys in the d unit become alpha players...

That said in order for this o to take that leap the oline must be shored up...it starts there on offense...

As much as I know we need lots of OL help I am intrigued by a LB pick. I cringed last year on several important drives where we needed a big play on D and the opposing team drove for first down after first down. My gawd, how many third and a mile were converted against us...folks, we need D help too.

OL and LB, best player available and fill in the rest later.

Ok guys where do u want it...a Mosley break down...here...it's own thread...where???

Shazier looks a little light, no? Looks quick and seems to be a playmaker but me thinks he needs another 20+

And you know what I've said 100x? That we had a bottom 5 scoring offense and a top 10 scoring defense.

This isn't about opinion.

You had a bottom 5 scoring o cause your oline sucked...I know you know that...but the situational play of the d in 2013 left a lot to be desired for what was a touted bunch...but again it was mostly about exploiting the lb play...wheeler especially...he wore a target in crunch time...just about every big chunk run we gave up was cause that guy was late to fill even clean to the ball or he picked the wrong gap or over pursued etc...

The Dolphins could use Mosley's exceptional instincts, and ability to diagnose plays quickly to improve the team's run defense. He would immediately push for a starting spot, allowing the Dolphins to move Dannell Ellerbe to weakside linebacker.
Mosley, a three-year starter at Alabama, is virtually a coach on the field. His athleticism, range and quickness make him a three-down linebacker, and his size (6-foot-2, 234 pounds) hints he's a good fit for any scheme. Mosley is constantly around the ball, which explains the back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons he produced at Alabama."

I hope this happens. Our LB's are average to garbage.

Wheeler was a mistake. He is being vastly overpaid. Mosely would upgrade the position as a rookie.

I'm not going to argue that our defense was EXCELLENT... I'm not going to sit here and tell you we were flawless defensively or anything even close to it. But at the end of the day, our offense was far worse than our defense. Our defense needs improvement, but the offense is our problem. Our offense needs to start putting up even AVERAGE numbers before we start focusing on D. I'd like to see this team score 23-24-25pts/game before we start bitching about our defensive shortcomings. I'm sick of the lackluster offensive play.
