Merged 2X: Trade for Patrick Ramsey?/Ramsey an option?

to take a break from the fin loving that has been going on here for the past 24 hours, it appears that Patrick Ramsey has asked the Redskins to trade him. I guess he was even cleared to play after that blow he took on sunday but Gibbs kept Brunell in and will start Brunell in week 2.

With Jason Campbell being drafted, Ramsey doesn't feel he fits in in Washington. Anyone think he would be an uprgrade to either Rosenfels or Feeley? He could back up the rest of this year and come into camp with a legit shot of starting, imo. I imagine Baltimore and Chicago may take a stab at him as well, but Ramsey is intruiging to me.

I tell you one thing, he beats Couch, Davey, Mauck and the other names that have been bandied around here. If we could package Feeley and either another cheap player or lower draft pick, do you do it?

NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO

Screw Ramsey, lets play this thing out with Gus. Ramsey sucks and has had tools and a RB and he still can't do anything. NO!!!!!

Ramsey threw for over 100 yards yesterday I think in the first quarter. He was doing ok until the sack from hell came.

Better then Feeley? Yes, but Feeley is our 3rd stringer and will get minimal, if any, playing time with the Dolphins. Why go through all the of a trade for someone who isn't even going to play?

Because a change of scenery and a few months in a better system (both systems he played in Washington were/are jokes), along with a supportive and bright coaching staff may bring him back to form.

I, for one, am not as excited as everyone else around here is, waiting for a mythical sure-fire hit in some future draft who (we hope) will become the QB of the future. If there is someone our coaching staff thinks has potential, like Ramsey or Volek or even Phillip Rivers, then I'm all for bringing in a QB who's already shown they can compete at this level.

Patrick Ramsey was a gamer with a cannon for an arm before Spurrier nearly put him in a wheelchair with his "Fun 'n' Gun" offense.

Id like to see Ramsey here. Im not going to get excited because Frerotte had one good game, hes not a longterm solution here. Feeley obviously has no future here, neither does Rosenfels. Ramsey would be a good pickup in the offseason. No one is going to trade for him, he will get cut in the offseason, theres no point in trading for him.
Some of you need to watch him play in live games and stop going with the mob. This guy has had terrible offenses and lousy talent around him, with the exception of Portis and Moss. He was playing decent up until he took a vicious hit. Ramsey has an extremely live arm, is really tough. Yes he needs to improve a lot of things but he has a lot of talent, more than any Qb on our roster. I lived in DC and have watched this guy play a ton of games. He will be good for someone else, the Skins have him on a leash and have done a poor job of surrounding him with a good line and offensive talent at WR. Brunnell played mediocre at best last week, Im not sure what Gibbs is doing, he really seems amazingly lost right now as a coach.

Not saying he isn't worth a look, but do we really want our QB roster to be ALL Redskin castoffs? :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3:

I'd prefer a QB however that is under 25 though. Frerrote probably if he plays like this has two good years left. After that he can be the backup for a couple years if he likes it here in Miami (he'd be a moron not to).

In theory I don't mind acquiring Patrick Ramsey this season because he'd sit the bench and be the 3rd guy and that's great. Ramsey needs some good bench time, practice time, without getting killed during the game. Having the season to sit back, watch, and learn the offense would be great.

But again, why pay anything for the guy when we could possibly get him for free next offseason. Getting him onto the bench this season doesn't have THAT much value.

If they'd do a Feeley for Ramsey trade straight up, I'd do it...

I live in dc...let me tell you about patrick ramsey

he takes WAY too long to decide where to go with the ball, and when he does, he has a slow release...the 'skins offensive line is respectable, but they can't hold the line forever.

add that to his immobility, and you know the reason he gets injured every year.

the dude gets rocked every week, but I'm actually surprised he was still concious after the clothesline sack he took on sunday.

Yes, he has an arm, but something just isn't right with him.

I live in the DC area too and mostly agree with your assessment...but I honestly think that he's worth trading for if we can have him for a low-round draft pick. The guy has legit potential. Remember that he went through Spurrier and Gibbs...both made his life unstable to say the least. I think he just needs some proper coaching...and he's a better prospect than the soon-to-be-gone AJ Feely.

ramsey is one of those guys that hold onto the ball way too long. Its just something that is difficult to correct... no thanks!

Didn't Linehan get top performance out of Jeff George at quarterback? I think it was one of Linehan's predecessors but I thought it was the same basic offense.

yea im gonna have to go with shaadi on this one i think that baltimore will end up trading for him. right now boller has a case of servere turf toe and we all know that this will be a problem for him all season if not the rest of his career. i say we pass on ramsey and draft omar jacobs next year

Keep in mind Jacobs is likely to be a top 10 selection and after this game against Denver, you may or may not believe Miami is in line for a top 10 pick...
