Monday just reported on NFL Total Access. It is reportedly a 6 year worth app 51 million dollars. A 24 million dollar signing bonus so hopefully Ronnie will sign and we can afford him.

you're just a little late on that man. *merge*

thats good news, I really want to see Brown in camp ASAP!

YeaH, like kids waiting to open that big present on Christmas. You know it's the bike you asked for, but you want to see how fast it goes and how tough it is!

gives me all the more reason to say MATT LEINHART.....LOOK AT WHAT YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN YOU IDIOT

Cosidering he is probably going number one next year anyway, and last years no. 1 got 20 million, i figure he is probably going to get even more

so the size of his contract should determine what kind of stats he puts up?

Maybe for a FA, but not a rookie.

Rivers got paid, and he didn't do ****.

He means that great stats and success would be necessary to justify that size of a contract. Chicken before the egg thing.

Somewhat related news: Alex Smith signs

Hopefully Ronnie will follow suit very quickly!!

Edit: Didn't see the giant thread about this already. :( I'm so stupid. Merge or delete this! :goof:

Who can blame Leinart? He's gonna be rich next year (barring injury) and prolly gets mad girls at USC...and can win three straight national championships.

18 million is going to be too much money for a guy that is going to be part of a 2 headed backfield, I mean he is going to get that much, but I think it is a little too much. I hope he plays well enough (i'm almost sure Smith won't)

On topic: I'm shocked that the 9er's gave Smith that big a signing bonus...that is mega bucks. Ronnie is going to be getting some big coin...

Off topic: I don't think Leinart is crazy at all. The guy gets to be the king of the campus for another year, have fun playing the game, maybe win a Heisman AND try for history (3 straight National Championships). He's going to be the #1 pick next year...I'd have stayed in school to. I'm sure he has a MASSIVE insurence policy in case he gets hurt regardless.

Off topic: Man did the Patriots get away with a lot during that Super Bowl....that officiating crew must have been blind as bats.

I don't blame Leinhart - it's his decision and his life BUT it was STUPID!! He could not get drafted any higher than he would have this year so his draft spot can only get worse which means LESS $$. He will not get rich IF he gets hurt - he did have groin and shoulder surgery this offseason so if he is reinjured now there is a history which means lower draft spot and LESS $$. His pocket can only get lighter - very minimal chance for more $$ unless everything goes perfect for him again this year. Good point about the girls BUT do you think Alex Smith will have a tough time getting any girl on any college campus with 24 mil in his pocket and a 50+ mil contract.

Not if they put in standard rookie contracts. He could of lost millions in free money.

Too much for an unrpoven qb, I think he's the next ryan leaf. He's a bust. This draft sucked when it came to QBs but was extremely deep in rbs

if anybody read espn magazine they would see that he didn't go 2 the draft because of a surgery

That is way to much for a rookie, Dan Marino as a rookie did not get close to 50$ million in is rookie season. Maybe the guy is not even that good. Can you imagine 833000$ per year. Crazy

Ridiculously high signing bonus for Alex Smith. That sets a bad precedent for future #1 picks. Just imagine what Leinart is going to demand next year.
For those of you who have posted on earlier threads hoping for another 4-12 season so that we can draft Leinart, I say NO THANK YOU. That will destroy your salary cap for years to come. 49'ers won't be seeing a playoff game for a very long time, IMO.
