That would be an unbelievably awesome addition to our offense, but I just don't know if he's worth it.

I mean, do YOU want the Dolphins to become the circus that the Eagles have? I don't.

Besides, we need a QB FIRST AND FOREMOST. If we can land David Carr or Philip Rivers, then we can talk about T.O. and other receivers.

Dolphins | Potential Landing Spot for TO?
Tue, 8 Nov 2005 10:39:43 -0800

ESPN.com Len Pasquarelli reports the Miami Dolphins could be a potential landing spot for Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens, who is done in Philadelphia
Well if Len is reporting it, then you had better believe there is not a snowballs chance of it happening.

Thanks Len.

TO could need almost 10 million just to break even on this stunt.

Give some people enough rope & they will hang themselves.

"T." COULD "O." BONUS MONEY

In addition to the $7.5 million in option and roster bonus money that the Eagles won't pay to T.O. in March 2006, we've determined based on the text of his contract that the team also may be able to pursue more than $1.7 million in bonus money paid to him when he signed his contract on March 16, 2004.

Per the contract, the original $2.3 million signing bonus expressly requires repayment of $1.725 million for a "default" occurring between January 31, 2005 and January 31, 2006. A "default" occurs if, among other things, Owens is suspended for more than one game for conduct detrimental to the team.

Owens also received a $6.2 million roster bonus in 2004, none of which is subject to repayment for conduct occurring after the 2004 league year.

Thus, T.O.'s looming grievance regarding his four-game suspension is worth much more than 4/17ths of his 2005 base salary (which actually is $3.25 million, not $3.5 million as reported elsewhere). In addition to four game checks worth a total of $764,705, Owens could be forced to pay back to the team, if the grievance is upheld, all but $575,000 of his original signing bonus.

And since the grievance likely won't be resolved before the end of the regular season, our guess is that the Eagles will withhold his final five game checks (worth $955,882) as a down payment against his $1.725 million debt. Indeed, the contract signed by T.O. grants the team full discretion to deduct and set off sums owed by the player from sums owed to the player.

The bottom line for Owens is that his conduct could end up costing him $2,489,705 in past bonus money and 2005 salary. In order to merely break even as to where he would have been if the team had exercised its March 2006 option, Owens needs to pocket $9,989,705 on his next contract.

And we'll bet $9,989,705 that it won't happen.

I just have to say...Scoop Jackson just hit the nail on the FREAKING head man. Ya'll really need to read this.

I dunno... I see his point, but the Eagles weren't doing all that well with TO... in fact they barely won two of their games (strokes of luck, NE style IMO) while he was still playing.... his "antics" have obviously effected the team to the point where they are not the same team that dominated last year. Yes, he helps them win... but he also seems to help them lose.

I don't think that's as obvious as you do. No, the team is not the same this year as they were last year, but they haven't made any commitment to running the ball this year, Donovan has been injured and not been producing near to his normal standards, and the defense is allowing teams to score on them.

How do people so easily quantify such an intangible thing as TO's effect on the locker room as it translates onto the field? I don't think it was translating at all, IMO. This team didn't do anything to try and get better in the offseason, IMO. All they did, was just get older, lose a pretty good defensive end in Derrick Burgess, then dump a dominant player in Corey Simon and replace him with a rookie (albeit a pretty good one). Simon, btw went to the Colts, whose defense has done a complete 180 and is one of the most dominant in the league. Go figure.

In this league, when you stagnate during the offseason, you get worst. Everyone thinks that if you keep all the players you had last year that got you to the playoffs or a championship, you're a lock for another championship. That's not true at all. You always have to evolve as a team and keep moving forward in order to stay good.

Far too many people use intangible things as a scape goat for what really is coming down to poor execution, poor coaching, and a lack of talent.

Len Pasquarelli on ESPN.COM:

Owens might never see $6 million in a season again but he will see the playing field. Where? Don't bet on the usual suspects; teams that have rolled the dice in the past on players regarded as character risks such as Oakland, Washington, and Tampa Bay. Think more along the lines of Denver, Miami and New Orleans.

I don't think there is anyway Gus can keep him happy. Although TO is such a good receiver like Randy he could probably make Gus look good.

I don't know if i want him..sometimes yes, sometimes no, he's too good but too much of a cancer..
sometimes I feel like T.O. just needs a coach who'll tell him something like: "Hey, this is my team. You are one of the best in what you do, and you'll be paid like one, and u will do what you know how to do best, for you and for my team. Simple rule,If you tell anything to the media before talking to me about it, you're on the bench, if u don't, u're on the field catching balls and teaching my QB how to make TD's.Oh, and almost forgot, meet the guys who'll share the nod with ya, ricky, ronnie,McMike and Chambers. Enough talk, go to the damn camp!!:fire:"

I think I may have gotten here a little late... I click the thread that says has been Merged 117 times and I see a poll, "Could Saban make TO cry?". 30 votes for "Yes" and 16 votes for "No"... anyone care to explain how that came about... :hmmm:

Would you take T.O. if the contract was 5-6 million a year? Basically what Reggie Howard is making.

Nope, not interested, not worth the drama.
