Merged: Around the Horn/ Vince Young a Dolphin?

Saban hates giving up draft picks, and he already doesnt have a #2 to play with. I'm sure he won't be trading for a a QB that may not be smart enough to grasp the playbook.

Even if we were interested, it is not far fetched that he would drop to us. The kid has bust written all over him, and everyone knows it.

Actually, no, you have no idea whether or not he can play WR or what kind of NFL QB he will be. You can make an uneducated guess.

Actually, he can't play receiver, he is to slow (4.55 - 4.60) great for a tight end not so good for receiver.

Like someone posted before in another topic its a smokescreen.

it all worked pretty well against oklahomo didnt it?

if we have to trade up id rather get mike huff, what do you have to say about him?

agreed... fully.... but then, i still dont want to trade up... i would actually rather trade down at this point... pick up a second or a third...

people, let's not forget we are seriously lacking in quality picks already... trading up will even further deplete picks, even into next season (which is out of the question, imho)...

I NEVER want to see this loser in a Dolphins uni, screw the Rose Bowl, idc how good he was IN COLLEGE, he wont be able to run that shotgun draw in the nfl.

VINCE YOUNGS PLAYBOOK

1. Run

2. Run faster

3. Throw it up in the air

ok vince heres what u do, u fake a hand off and go left if there is a guy there run the other way. omg i dont want this joke.

ok i will now let people bash

You've either never seen him play in your life or this is your first year with the sport of football.

There is going to be so much crow to eat in a couple years.

The guy was the highest rated PASSER in college football. He was like 34-2.

You may not like his style, but to call him a "loser" is just idiotic.

Man, people need to take a good, hard look at themselves.

1. there is no way Young drops out of the top ten. Zero chance. Not unless he kills somebody between now and the draft.

2. Every one knows he'll be a bust??? :sidelol:

3. i wish we could wager on here, I would clean up on all the uninformed haters.

gimme a break, this guy is going to need at least 3 years before he even thinks about touching the field. there is no way he'll be able to digest a nfl playbook in a year. he had 4 plays in college

handoff r/l

draw

te drag

wr out/comeback

that's it. did he even throw a ball over 15 yards against SC? that was a bull**** game too. I don't know what carroll was doing with the defense. lock up the corners, spy young with that 18 middle backer who's a stud, and then bring some heat. game over.

Oh, bull.

You never watched him.

If the Miami Dolphins are really interested in Vince Young and are expecting to trade up in the Draft....then shoot me..

If Miami does move up and pick young and so happens to have Lavar Arrington.....what does this mean about our extreme need of WRs?
If you think about it we dont want two good QBs and no good WR (other than Chambers and Booker) cause then it would be like the saga of Drew Brees and the Chargers (back before they had good recievers and before antonio gates was a star)

Bzzzzz, wrong.

Anquan Boldin ran a 4.75 at the combine, and a 4.59 in workouts.

Mike Williams, who is the exact same physical dimensions ran a 4.56 last year.

have you watched anyone other than him?

until he proves he is anything other than the product of a dumbed-down offense, he's just a good college QB.

You forgot beat your Sooners finally and beat USC in the Rose Bowl, both with big giant CHECKs next to them :D

Just gotta add that since the Longhorns are my team.

Now on to the point of the thread. Vince isn't the guy I'm hoping we draft (I want Huff or Cutler, neither of which are likely to be there) but if we DO get him I won't be too dissapointed. I WILL be dissappointed if we trade up for him after just tossing our 2nd rounder away for Daunte (which I COMPLETELY disagree with, but whatever, that's a different topic). So I guess my stance would be: "Not my first choice, or even 2nd or 3rd etc, but if he falls to us and we take him it won't piss me off, I'd only prolly get annoyed with it if we trade up for him or if a guy like Huff or Cutler should magically fall and we still take Vince."

Rose Bowl?

Did you not see the Rose Bowl? Or for that matter the Texas-Ohio State games last drive? Some of you act like Vince Young is a scrub. On January 3rd you would of thought America just saw the coming of Dan Marino or Joe Montana again. I think he will really excel in the NFL and would look real good for a few years standing behind Daunte Culpepper. If we can afford it then go and get him. His stock fell down because of the shotgun thing and the fact he cant spell football but be realistic this guy can play at any level. I am sure over a two or three year period as a backup you can teach this guy how to put his hands under the centers ***. And bring in the former Braves pitching coach to work on his fastball mechanics. This guys no slouch and besides you know where this is coming from. Mularkey. He loves fast QBs.

montana mastered an extremely complex west coast offense and operated it to perfection. vince young played in an offense that was simplified because he was performing poorly in the pro-style offense. mentioning him in the same breath as marino and montana is absurd.

Man, people need to take a good, hard look at themselves.

apparantly YOU'VE never seen him play. He was the highest rated passer because his offense was a single read offense. When he did pass, they were either WR screens, TE drags, or lobs to 6'5 WRs against some of the worst CBs in college football.

How easily people, including the media, forget. Vince Young was awful during his freshman and sophomore years in a pro offense. The only reason they were winning was Cedric Benson and Roy Williams. Hell in 2004 everyone was calling for Chance Mock to be made permanent starter. Before the Rose Bowl against Michigan, Mack Brown said he would let Vince Young run, and he did. The only reason Texas beat Michigan was because Vince Young was able to run.

This past season, Texas did not run a pro offense. Young only took 8 SNAPS ALL YEAR under center. When he took all his snaps under center 2 years ago, he struggled. He was horrible against OU, Kansas, etc. If it wasn't for Cedric Benson Texas would have lost 2 or 3 games.

Stats can be misleading. According to stats Timmy Chang is the best passer in college football history, but stats don't show that all Hawaii did was pass while Chang was there.
