Merged: Bennie Anderson RG signed by fins

Last weekend spoke volumes to what the coaching staff thought of Seth McKinney at center. This signing speaks volumes to what the staff thought of McKinney at right guard.

Bennie's arrival = Seth's departure

If Bennie starts, our OL will be the biggest in the NFL.

LT- L.J. Shelton 6-6 345
LG- Jeno James 6-4 320
C- Rex Hadnot 6-2 325
RG- Bennie Anderson 6-5 345
RT- Vernon Carey 6-5 335

I would be more comfortable if our OL would look like this.

LT-Shelton
LG-James
C-Hadnot
RG-Carey
RT-McIntosh

Very reminiscent of the Dallas Cowboys back when Houck was there. I remember their OL at the time was huge in relative terms. I still kinda remember this graphic from a thanksgiving day game waaaay back then where they talked about Dallas' hungry hungry OL and how they all weighed above 320-330 pounds, etc. Cartoon of them all pigging out on turkey legs at the thanksgiving dinner table...

That could be a good possibility if Anderson / McKinney can't cut it at RG....

PHINZ RULE!!!

thats a really good O-line.....id actually prefer that too....we brought back McIntosh for a REASON....he was one of our top lineman last year, so there isnt any reason to think he wont start. Now we got a busload of Lineman to choose from.

Tackles: Shelton, McIntosh, Carey, Pearson, Toledo
Guards: James, Carey, Hadnot, Anderson

No matter what happens...we WILL have a strong O-line...Pearson, Carey, McIntosh, Shelton are all good guys...whoever wins is definetely top of the line. and yes, the biggest O-line in the NFL for that matter...which can be scary. and its YOUNG, to mention

Yeah the amazing part is how many castoffs we had in 2005 though. At any given point we had like 16 guys on the 53 man roster that were cut from another team as recently as that year I believe. Alonzo Ephraim is a good example, actually started games for us...and we didn't get him til Wade Smith broke his arm.

So if Bennie ends up in the game as an injury replacement, I won't panic...but if he wins a starting job from Day One, I'd be a little worried.

The good news is if Bennie doesn't beat Seth for the start, he may end up cut outright...cuz Toledo will not be cut even if Bennie proves better than him right now.

i think its as solid a pickup as we can make at this point.....hard to find guys who have started so much and have the potential to start

Man if our line plays like those OL from the 90's Cowboys, this offense will be unstoppable.

A lot of my initial caution about Anderson was linked to my believing him to have been available this entire time in free agency. If he was JUST cut by the Bills on the 9th, then I believe he has far more potential than if he were available throughout all of free agency.

It's the difference between being rejected by one team vs. being rejected by all 32 teams...I'm sure you see the difference...

All that I know is McKinney is no longer going to be a starter. That makes me happy because I am sick of seeing him get beat off the snap time after time.

The Packers were interested too.

Added to the fact that Mularkey must think he can cut it as well. Jauron and co and installing totally new blocking schemes, and he didn't fit in their plan. McKinney is not physical enough for Mularkey, so I see Anderson starting come Sept. 7 JMO.

I'm on the Bills web board a lot, and although they've expressed nothing but happiness upon Andersons' departure, they had very high expectations upon his arrival from Baltimore just last year. What does this mean??...

It means he was a better player prior to joining the Bills, and could be a better player now that he's coming to Miami. The players around him alone could be enough to make him look better....

The situation on the Bills OL was a complete mess last year, they were shuffling players left and right all off-season long, and never came up with a winning combo. It couldn't have been easy playing on that OL, not for any of them. Anderson has much more stability in Miami surrounding him in those regards.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!
