If he sucks "soooo" much how come the bills waiting so long to release him? Why not release him as soon as possible. Seems like they wanted him to me, they could have signed someone else early on in free agency
the season opener is a long way away, i woudnt say we held on to him for "sooo" long.

we signed a OG so we could finally let Anderson go.

i do think other O-Lineman have an impact on how a particular O-Lineman looks, but when he is consistantly beat over and over... maybe its not the guy standing next to him, maybe its just him.

i was happy when we signed Anderson, then i watched him play. then i was happy to see us sign his replacement. and finally i was happy to see us cut him.

i read he was good for the ravens and thaught he would be a great addition. man was i wrong.

i have watched him play in several games. and i am happy top see him go. yall have only read "he was good for the ravens a few years back" and think hes going to be good for you, but he wont. hes below average, and only usefull if your current starter sucks really really bad (which from what i hear may be the case).

after a year you will all see what im talking about.

Funny how the Bill's fans are dissing Anderson now....he was good enough to play 80 games in the NFL....I am sure Houck can make him fit in at RG.

Yeah I asked my friend Mark Weiler from BillsBuzz.com about Bennie. This guy is a Bills fan but has basically hated every move the Bills have made since 1979. So, trust me when I say he was as likely to blast the crap out of the Bills for releasing Anderson as he was to blast the crap out of Anderson. To this guy, it seems at times that everyone the Bills sign is crap and everyone the Bills let go was actually kinda good, lol. Here's his response...

He's a complete slob and penalty machine.

An absolute waste of time as a starter.

If you didn't think Nails was much, you'll hate Anderson.

He was the weak link of the Ravens line when we picked him up on FAcy. They sorely needed a G and didn't even make a minimum offer to him. That should tell you something as well.

I wouldn't even look at him. He's almost 30, led the team in OL yardage for penalties, had 3 holdings, 5 illegal procedures, and 1 illegal use of the hands as a G. He allowed a bunch of sacks, which for a G is inexcusable.

You can check out Bills Daily's grades on our line here. http://www.billsdaily.com/gameday/2005/final.html

Scroll down to OL.

I would just hope that he doesn't even consume a backup spot if you ask me. At near 30 there's absolutely no upside to his dismal play.

Not liking the penalties at all. Houckster gonna have to get this messed cleaned up.

This is a solid pickup. I think he'll compete, but don't know to much about him to say he'll be starting.

Had to weigh in here.
I had high hopes for Bennie when the Bills signed him last year, and for the very same reasons you just brought up- size, run blocking, Ravens success, ect.
The reality is though that he isn't able to take full advantage of his size because he's a terrible athlete. He has no agility at all. He can't move his feet to adjust in pass blocking, and this also makes him less effective in run blocking.
The best way I can describe him is as a lunger. He can block defensive lineman that are kind of like himself- huge and extremely unathletic. If they start moving on him, he's a lost cause and a major liability on the line. His lack of athleticism is why he was not drafted and had to get his start in the XFL.
Going into this year we had replaced him with Tutan Reyes from Carolina, and I was not too upset with having Bennie as experienced depth who can play both Guard spots. But we needed to get him out of the starting lineup because he consistently was making major mistakes- costly penalties, blown assignments on stunts, and just getting flat out beat up the middle, and not getting near enough push in the running game.
I wish him luck in Miami. But, seriously, he was by far the most maligned of our offensive linemen last year. I say that without exaggeration or any kind of slanted hindsight now that he has left.

Thanks for your input as well as ch19079's. Anderson's not getting too much praise. He may just end up as a backup (or even cut if he can't be a starter). It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Saying that Bills fans only hate him now is incorrect. Anderson was always extremely overweight, out of shape, and just a poor lineman in general. The Bills benched him for Mike Williams mid-way through the year.

This is obviously a depth signing. Anderson has little chance of beating out McKinney. He really is a poor man's Jamie Nails. Maybe if he drops some weight and isn't required to pass block he can be a viable backup.

Very good signing. This guy was regarded as up and coming lineman with Baltimore. He had the miss furtune of signing with Bills and their line just sucks. When a team has bad oline is like a virus that every one has.I'm sure this guy will be starting come september.

I'd like to thank those who can keep the smack talk out of this thread. I'm disappointed in those who couldn't and had to have the posts moved to the depths.

What's this? Another thread about us signing somebody else's castoff? I never would've seen the Dolphin fans actually coming to the defense of this guy while the Bills fans tear him a new one. :sidelol:

Give it up guys. The guy is serviceable at best. He'll provide training camp depth. If you actually watched this slob, you'll see why his old arse is on it's way out of the league.

It sounds to me like a consensus...he's 345 pounds now and really needs to get down to 325 pounds to have any shot of playing even remotely well.
