Brunell Reaches Tentative Agreement w/ Skins

Updating the story from George Michael of NBC4 TV...

He just announced that Brunell has reached a tentative agreement with the Redskins.

He said that his agent had advised him to hold out for Free Agency...But, Brunell...after meeting with Gibbs ...decided that is where he wanted to be.

No mention of Ramsey.

Great. I'm still on the Ramsey-wagon, but it seems like we're the new front runners for Henson.

I'm not willing to lose a first round pick this year for Ramsey...but I am starting to get on the Henson bandwagon.

His negatives are lack of experience. He will need time to develop. (Yet, he did play the QB position for many years and his father was a coach).

The positives are:

1) He is starting to make wise decisions...leaving the Yankees.
2) Terrific athlete. 6'4" 223 lbs / ran 4.65 - 4.7 Forty.
3) Strong arm...can make all the throws with accuracy.
4) Get's away from center quickly and has a quick release.
5) Maybe he wants to be a Dolphin to kick Tom Brady's butt.

Boy, did the Redskins overpay. No way the Dolphins could (or should) compete with that.

ESPN: Brunell Agrees to 7-yr, $43 Million Deal

Just saw it on the bottom line. Just a matter of time now.

old news muck, where you been. it's been on the dot com for a while now

Then why didn't you post it, smartass??

 Story is less than 1 hour old. ESPN is still shooting it up as "BREAKING NEWS".

Back to the Gaming Forum young man.

Brunell and Redskins reached an agreement

the Redskins signed Brunell to a 7 year 43 million dollar contract.

Looks like the SKins are the laughing stock of the league for at least the next couple of seasons what a dumb move. Sign a old injury prone player to a 7 year deal and let a guy who has only played 2 seasons as your starter go for no reason yet bring in no new oline or offensive players to help out your team. What worked for Gibbs 10 years ago wont work now. Not to mention they are gonna probaly lose one of their best D player too.

ahhh. im late :) oh well.. sorry bout that hehe. here is the article anyway.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Jacksonville quarterback Mark Brunell agreed to a seven-year, $43 million deal with the Washington Redskins late Thursday, clearing the way for a trade next month.

Brunell will receive an $8.6 million signing bonus, according to agent Leigh Steinberg, who wrapped up several weeks of negotiations with Redskins owner Dan Snyder.

Brunell is expected to displace Patrick Ramsey as the starter, giving Joe Gibbs the veteran he sought in the coach's first season back in Washington after an 11-year retirement.

"Mark and Joe Gibbs have been talking every day, sometimes multiple times," Steinberg said. "Mark's comfort level and excitement level with coach Gibbs has grown every day. He became convinced throughout the process that the ability to play for a Hall of Fame-caliber coach that had been to four Super Bowls was unique and too good to pass up."

The deal cannot become official until the offseason trading period begins March 3. The Redskins have offered the Jaguars a third-round draft pick for Brunell, according to a source familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity.

To be fair to the Skins, the deal is in actuality a 3 year deal with the signing bonus I believe split into parts so, its not as bad as it seems.

Still a 3rd round pick and $8 million is an aweful lot to give a guy like Brunell entering the twilight of his career.
