Smith is an average corner . he is a starting corner in the nfl just not a top one. marshall and patterson have never excelled as starters

You kinda muddled the argument a little bit.

We replaced those good linebackers with what appears to be equally good linebackers.

Unfortunately, every player on the team isn't good, but those cb's you mentioned aren't really guys who'll play a huge difference in our future success, and they'll probably be cut and replaced due to them being average as well.

So technically the same thought process applies to them also..... which means not being satisfied with average players, instead look to get better at those positions too.

way too inconsistant! Replaced linebackers with younger, cheaper linebackers! Even if talent is the same youger are getting better, older getting worse.We would have to have done something next year.
